Well first welcome to the board and congrats. Like mentioned above you did find a great board and will provide you a wealth of info. It is the best board on the net.But I've heeded advice and treated the thing with respect first time out. And I think I'll always do that.
This bike takes finesse, I can tell that already.
I know what you mean on that. I do think it's gonna be a bad year for busas in general. We are gonna see a lot of parts and broke down ones on ebay because in general the busa is getting a bad reputation with young kids that if they want the fastest thing around just buy a busa. Really at least where I am at riding is becoming a "trend". Bike sales are going nuts and it's not people buying them because they like to ride it's a bunch of as you said younger kids buying them to look cool riding around town with no helmet or anything. I had a lot of people even the salesman try and talk me out of mine. I just know when I set out to learn something I am very tenacious and to be honest after riding that zx7 the first time I got on this bike it literally scared the crap out of me. But I think everyone needs to have that fear a LITTLE bit. Fear = respect. If you respect it then it will take care of you. You try and spank it like a moto gp rider when you have no riding experience it'll buck you off like a rodeo bull. If you really want tips I would just do like I did. Take it slow at first. Take a few slow turns and get a feel for the bikes weight and handling then add a little speed every so often when you are getting comfortable. Practice some high speed stops on a backroad with no traffic. Play around practicing your slow speed manuevering. The busa is a long heavy bike. The slower it gets the more fight it is to keep er up. I don't know what to tell you on the wheelies. I have a friend on a stunt team and he coached me a lil. I would just say one thing for sure do not try a first gear wheelie until you are REAL familiar with the bike. It will put you on your back quicker than a 2 dollar ##### if you don't know the throttle well. Try the 2nd gear wheelies first. Get your rpms around 5-6 grand and chop the throttle. Use the bounce you get when the nose dives down to bounce er back up and that nose will catch some air. Well man enjoy your learning and good riding.Hats off to you man if this was your first bike and you've had the kind of experience you've had. I think you are probably in the the top 1% of riders, which is cool.Congrats on the bike man. I kinda disagree that you can't learn on this bike. The busa was my first and only bike. I rode like 15 hours on a zx7 and decided I wanted to buy a motorcycle after riding my buddies. I always liked the busa since it came out and decided thats what I wanted. I have 11,000 miles of riding on it now and it has been a blast. I just started out slow and everytime I went out slowly tested a little more out on it and above all respected it. I have done a lot of HARD riding on it to. Learned to wheelie on it and it's been topped out 2 times. Above all it all depends on the person not the bike. If you are dumb and don't respect all that power then by all means NO the busa is not for you. However if you can be patient and behave long enough to learn some skills before you start getting buck wild then this bike can be as playfull as a pussycat. However the part you said about requiring finesse is true. This baby has a lot of torque. You gotta know the throttle well before you start twisting.
When I was talking I was thinking of an average rider; maybe I was just thinking about myself at age 16. No doubt there are people out there smart and talented enough to handle this bike, like yourself.
Any tips you can give, I'm all ears. I doubt I will ever do a wheelie on purpose. I might just go fast though, sometime.

Here's a pic of the new baby.Congrats and welcome
Yes, the Busa can be docile around town, but it can be surprisingly violent when it wants to
Good luck, have fun and post pics

That was a laser jammer receiver. It's not on there anymore.Scootergirl, what is that under the nose fairing on your bike? Just something in the pic? Looks like a flat piece?
