Kickstand mod

Pan, is it me or do you like to just stir the pot?

you join the ORG and immediately start rambling about riding with no gear, then riding with no Lic or Ins, now slamming people about the Kickstand mod... I have done it twice, once when I first got it and then again when I lowered it... I sleep much better not worrying about if it will or wont tip... if you have the confidence that it won't good for you.....

It's just the way I am. I'm really a no-nonsense sort... and I don't mean that anyone here is stupid. I would just like to know WHY people had their bikes fall. And why will mine fall if it hasn't already?

And yeah, I'm a real person... and that's me on my myspace link. I'm an incredibly nice person, but sometimes I'll use the net to vent and stir the pot. If you don't stir the pot, the noodles get stuck... and stirring the pot helps to bring about discussion.

I'll probably end up just doing the mod to be safe anyway. I guess if people say my bike will do a phantom tip... I better pay attention.

And I also figured a bunch of guys who felt the need to buy the fastest bike on Earth would also have a little sense of humor and/or be able to "take" me stirring the pot a little bit...

I have been riding motorcycles for over 20 years and I have not once (knock on my wooded head) ever had a motorcycle fall off the kick stand (now it will probably happen)

I attribute it to my total anal retentiveness

If I am on a flat surface, when I get off the bike I leave it in gear, hold the clutch in, put my foot behind the kick stand and pull the bike back.

If I am on any kind of grade, I will normally turn the bike so it the nose is pointed UP the grade, bike in gear, handlebars turned and again I pull the bike back with my foot pressed against the stand..

I think what happens is people don’t have the stand all the way forward, and they think it is and one small little forward bump and push it off. the kick stand mod makes it so the stand I think is more forward and makes it more difficult to NOT notice the stand is all the way down and also makes it more difficult to have the bike get pushed forward..

But. I have never done the mod, dont think I plan on it.. just not needed with my anal personality

Try this little test... give your Busa a push while it is on the kickstand. This is the only bike I have seen that the stand will fold up on instead of slide. Thus, a little grindage to make the stand lock like it should.

If you read the posts you will find most folks here have a great sense of humor, while you actually seem to lack that or anything else resembling social skills.

There is a difference between being "no-nonsense" and being an a$$hole, and you seem to need some help differentiating between the two. Let me be of some assistance-

Since you joined the board you have been an a$$hole.

I would suggest starting over with a new handle and hope no one figures out who you were. If they do, I'm sure all those here would actually be gracious enough to ignore it and give you a fresh start.

Hey guys, any way I could edit that post to get that seven-letter word by so there is no confusion regarding what it is?

Done. Thanks for the help.

I've got an 06 and did a rough mod to mine. Just took out the dremel and ground a little metal off like the pics posted in the forum. I have a center stand too and use it most of the time, it just seems more stable to me. It was easy to do with the dremel.
I kind of enjoy doing little projects with the bike. I am active duty, just finished grad school, and now it seems like I have too much free time. Bike tinkering = enjoyment.

Just go back tot he post and hit the edit button. If the board recognizes the spelling, then be creative...

I felt the presence of a Phantom. Then lo and behold, I read the word above. It's like a sign..... I think he converted.

I have parked my bike on a perfect surface, an uneven parking lot surface, driveway, had the tires on grass - kickstand on a cemented sidewalk... no tips.

I think people that have had their busa fall while parked either had someone tump it over on them or they just don't know how to park a bike.

I've always parked a street bike by first (obviously) putting the stand down. Then I get off, use my right foot to push the stand as far forward and to pull it out to the bike's left as far as possible while pulling on the left handlebar grip to get the bike "stuck". It always worked for my katana 600 and it's working fine for the busa...

So... over time does the kickstand just get worn down or something? If not... then I don't see any reason for my bike to tip over on its own. So I won't be scraping off metal to change it.
WOW, You really are simple minded...

I just figured you were playing earlier... But Wow...

Glad you're impressed with yourself dude. Good luck.

That is what I love about this group! A large cross section of information, from different people all over the world. Mods, listen to the information then decide it you want to do it. I tested my bike by pushing the rear end and the kick stand did come up! No one here makes anyone do anything they don't want to do. SO just take the information given here and make your own decission. But don't wine about it!
