Kickstand mod

I'm small and don't come close to flat footing.

I put the kick stand down before I get off the bike making sure it is all the way forward, grab the front brake, dismount and ease it down on the stand while still holding the brake.

I pull the bike backwards slightly as I'm resting it on the stand.

I rest the stand on a 1/2 inch thick board in my driveway and it still leans quite a ways so I guess the guy I bought it from may have done the kickstand mod.

I lean the bike on my hip to move it in tight spots. Being small keeps me very alert with a bike as heavy as the Busa.

It's just the way I am. I'm really a no-nonsense sort... and I don't mean that anyone here is stupid. I would just like to know WHY people had their bikes fall. And why will mine fall if it hasn't already?
Using this mentality, none of us should ever have an accident. I mean, hell, I haven't had some dumb a$$ blow a red light and run in front of me in an intersection yet, and I been riding over 16 years, so (phew!) glad to hear that will never happen!

If you even read a single thread on the kickstand mod, the answer was there. MANY people have had tip-overs.

Uh huh. Not going to admit if mine has ever fallen over. Seems like a mute discussion. Go put 30-40,000 miles on the bike, then get back to me.

Wow, and too think I just posted it because I had nothing better to do except rack up my post count. I guess I would say, cancel your comprehensive part of your insurance and lemmie know how much your bill was. My fall over while watching it was over $2g's. It was in gear on a level surface rocked forward wedging the "IN GEAR" part of the tranny when pushed forward. Cross wind was enuff to rock the busa just enuff to allow the kickstand to fold the fk up and down she went. Most everyone that is in favor of the mod denied it at first just like I did until their shytt fell over or nearly fell over then they did it. Just lemmie know when you experience it.

All i can say is it must be the??? Lack of a hard stand! I would use them on my few other bikes that had them so never had this happen! But thinking of it i never had any of the few H.D's Bandit, Intruder tip ! The Busa side stand has a prob! One little bump from behind and down it went in slow motion so i had time to feel the HORROR/TERROR of it!!! This one has more to hurt than any other i owned! I am surprised that Zuki hasn't addressed this prob! I also noticed that on the R-side by fwd/top eng mount area where the slider goes thru the fairing, has the insulation missing like the slider was going there from the factory! I think they should put a hole there OEM! A nice Busa hole plug would be a nice touch if you didn't want them.

How about if they put sliders on as standard equipment? Or stop selling a $10 piece of plastic for $400.

Pan, is it me or do you like to just stir the pot?

you join the ORG and immediately start rambling about riding with no gear, then riding with no Lic or Ins, now slamming people about the Kickstand mod... I have done it twice, once when I first got it and then again when I lowered it... I sleep much better not worrying about if it will or wont tip... if you have the confidence that it won't good for you.....
It's just the way I am. I'm really a no-nonsense sort... and I don't mean that anyone here is stupid. I would just like to know WHY people had their bikes fall. And why will mine fall if it hasn't already?

And yeah, I'm a real person... and that's me on my myspace link. I'm an incredibly nice person, but sometimes I'll use the net to vent and stir the pot. If you don't stir the pot, the noodles get stuck... and stirring the pot helps to bring about discussion.

I'll probably end up just doing the mod to be safe anyway. I guess if people say my bike will do a phantom tip... I better pay attention.
Actually, a bike in a garage with the kickstand fully extended and the bars turned to the left, will not just fall because there are grimlins in it.

If you bump it from the rear and not very hard, it can roll forward and the stand will fold up and down she goes.

By extending the range of the stand farther forward, you have to overcome more resistance to start the fall. I think a longer more angled aftermarket stand would be better, but they're expensive (I think I saw one for $140) considering that they are just a piece of metal with a mount and a spring.

Couldn't have happened to a more deserving azzwipe.

Hey, can the life form banned still look at the site, so we can enjoy the thought of it reading all this and not being able to answer with it's usual drivel?!?

First of all, PanDemic has had issues that go against the grain here from day one.

If you're anal about the kickstand, like me, you won't have a problem. Put it in gear, push forward and let her down easy - being tall doesn't hurt either.

Problem is over time you'll likely rush the process, the stand isn't down all the way, you let her down and then it happens. Too late...you can't snatch up 500 lbs. falling to the ground. Unless you decide to throw yourself under it - you know who you are.

Haven't done it, but plan to.

Don’t feel good talking about this as I’m still a bit hurt, but I got my ’06 in Feb. Did about 3500 in mods and feeling really good about how my bike looks.

I’ve been riding for over 15yrs, and I feel like I’m a very good rider.

Now, I put down the stand and well guess what - it fell over. I’ll post pic’s tomorrow and afterwards I’ll post what it cost me to fix it. Nothing else to say for now….

Ouch...sorry dx. I read and heard about it so much from day one I've been meticulous, okay absolutely anal, about putting it in gear rolling forward making sure stand is all the way forward and lean her "Over Easy." No pun intended it just happened to fit.

Seriously, it was the first thing/mod I did, mainly because alot of people here said to do it... with that many confirming votes you would have to be an AZZhat to ignore it.... oh, wait, he was an azzhat.... nevermind...

I won't do the kickstand mod because my bike seems very stable while parked... not sure if it's the way I park it or not. It's a personal choice. I choose not to do the grab bar hump mod... well... because I think it looks stupid. That's just my opinion. We all see things differently sometimes. If we all saw things the exact same way, we'd all have the exact same stock bike. But we don't.

As for being banned... well, yeah I was. But I'm back now. I seriously missed this forum because it's the best one.

I'm wondering if anyone has had their Busa fall over after doing the kickstand mod.... I'd bet money that someone has. I doubt anyone would admit to it, though. haha!

Sorry to hear your bike fell over dude, I know you don't like thinking about it and have probably seen it happen over and over again in your mind but can you give us the details on what happened.

I have a 06 also and always felt the stand was ok but was very careful. Mine is lowered now and has an adjustable stand on it.
