MotoGP 2018

Just reading some very odd news. Tech3 will not be a Yamaha Satellite team next year! KTM?
https://www.yamahamotogp.com/news/22-02-2018-tech3-and-yamaha-to-part-ways-for-2019

Interesting. Tech 3 has always said they want to be a factory team. Could they have a partnership with a factory to be the factory MotoGP team? That would make either Aprillia or Kawasaki possible. Could also maybe be a BMW? KTM is doing really well, can't see them messing with success. Pretty interesting wrinkle though, how does something this big happen without a peep or rumor?

Suzuki need a Tech3 to help develop their bike , VR to retire and pick up satellite Yam thru VR46 , MotoE for Tech3 far left field would be Kawasaki or BMW....im sure we would know if those 2 factories were cooking up a GP machine ?

I don't quite understand this move, but Herve Poncharal has had an unprecedented run of success. He is no Daisy. Maybe he is just sick of Lynn Jarvis' crap! He has to know Zarcos will be on someone's factory squad sooner than later, so maybe it's a package deal? An all french MotoGP team anyone?

Now that Preseason testing is over the factories will be burning the midnight oil to be ready for Qatar in 2 weeks! There was really no clear cut pacesetter at the recent test there, a bunch of riders led the timesheets over the course of the test. Dovisioso seems to be the most consistent of the factory guys based on the preseason. The Yamahas are hit or miss, Marquez is just on a different level than anybody right now, but the Honda is also hot and cold depending on conditions. Even the Suzuki's were right in the thick of it. So it could be anybodies game at this stage.

Oh and did I mention Race 1 is less than 2 weeks away!

Hey Bigoltool, I would be interested on your insights on WSBK. I was so pissed at how they slowed Rea down so that he wouldn't run away from everyone that I didn't renew my subscription. It's not racing if you slow the best guy down just because no one else can catch him. Crazy!

Not sure about the rule changes, but that series has always had somewhat questionable regulations. The 1200cc twins comes to mind. That being said the first race at Philip island was a great race actually. Didn't get to see race 2 because beIN sports coverage is all over the place. Set my DVR to record it and got the WSS race instead. Dorna runs both series so they are desperate to differentiate WSBK and MotoGP, likely the other reason for the reg changes. Now that practically anyone with the means can actually buy 230+hp superbikes that line is getting blurred more all the time.

Not sure about this year but down here in NZ WSBK is delayed a week on a subscription with Dorna..so I've never signed up , bloody annoying...MotoGP is live and on demand as you'd expect, I don't mind paying (NZ$ 209) as ive ditched Sky/Cable years ago.

Not sure why I hadn't seen this before. This is a full 360 degree onboard lap around Motorland Aragon with Andrea Iannone riding with Alex Rins on the Suzuki's. You can pan and zoom throughout the video while it runs. Pretty cool really.

Is Qatar really just a week away?
