MotoGP 2018

...and he has the hp advantage.Rossi and Marquez's tires seemed to be just fine at the end of that race, just don't have the hp to keep up down the straights(even the announcer said it looked like everyone else was on Moto 2 bikes the way the Ducati blew by everybody on the straights).

Impressed with Dovi , he did bide his time and looked after his tyres picking his way thru for the end, Marquez is the only ALIEN out there......Mav did well to claw his way up as did Cal holding on to 4th.

Everyone who wins has a better bike on that track that day. Dovi gives away a lot to Yamaha in the turns and MM can wrestle the Honda around the block too. MM was so close because he blocked Dovi from getting a good drive out of the last turn. If MM hadn't of slowed Dovi with the block, he would have left MM by 2-3 bike lengths. Dovi is smart and patient, that's a skill to.

Well I enjoyed that race , that Zarco is really going to be a major thorn this year , really impressive . The lads were all giving it their best , and I think Dovi's win was well deserved , because he held them all off through those turns as well as the edge on straightaway . I luckily did record , because I fell asleep ... before the race . That track is a pretty wild layout . Am happy Jack Miller did pretty good , and bad luck for Lorenzo . Man that deployed air suit made him look pretty fat walking away from the get off , thinking that's what I might look like in my normal leathers.... okay, more full michelin man maybe !!!

The problem (if you want to call it that) is Honda doesn't have the best reputation for Rider treatment. Marquez and pedrosa are both Spanish, as is team benefactor Repsol, that likely helps! Were Zarco to go to a factory like KTM or Suzuki he might just get #1 status rather than having to accept the development direction of the current #1. Could be way off base, but I still remember how Nicky was treated after handing Honda the title. Pedrosa was seen as the future and the then new RC212 was clearly built for Pedrosa.

I don't feel Nicky really got the respect he deserved. Many felt his Championship was a fluke, and he never repeated that year's performance. So Honda turning to Dani was not a surprise. Honda has always said it's the bike, not the rider. They feel there are many riders that can make the best bike a winner. This may be the case, but it is rare that a manufacturer can produce a truly superior bike that is that much better than the rest of the field on enough tracks to dominate. After all, when is the last time that the fight between 1 & 2 was in a single manufacturer's team? It's also dangerous to have too many egos on a team. Bringing Zarco on might get Marquez looking elsewhere. Right now Dani is the perfect #2 for Honda.

I was wondering what happened to Lorenzo. No brakes on a MotoGP bike is not something I'd want to try.

Did you happen to see the Moto2 race? Alex Marquez' rear brake rotor was glowing cherry red for several laps. No idea how he finished with it that way.

Cherry red rotors don't work at all. The pads get glazed the instant they touch a (too) hot rotor. Track use shouldn't get a rear rotor that hot so the pads or caliper may have been the problem. As for Lorenzo, he hates riding in a pack, especially back in the pack, he also hates riding in the wet. He always seems to have something to blame when he finishes out. I was happy to see three brands on the podium. The order could've been better though. I found it funny that there were Kawasaki commercials despite not having a bike on the track.:D Where was BMW? Come to think of it, I can't recall ever seeing a BMW commercial. Looked like Zarco got rattled once he was passed and pushed back into the following pack. I can't see any other reason he couldnt have recovered. He was spot on right from the start.

Yup i did, when it stuck on it sent him wide luckily on a big run off corner...it eventually released ok enough for it not to glow , fortunately the top 3 were far enough out front so not too much pressure for alex to finish.

Zarco said his front tyre was rooted with 5 to go and had plenty of front end slides after he was passed.

I agree on Lorenzo. It sounds like he is saying that the brakes were assembled wrong by his team. If that's the case he should have kept his mouth shut and dealt with that internally. Just don't like how this guy approaches things.

BMW has never really been too interested in MotoGP. They do race at the highest levels in cars and off road endurance bikes. Obviously road racing is not where their money is, but the S1000RR is doing well in the lower ranks and in TT racing. I wonder if we will see a BMW in motoGP however with the new CF frame. Apparently these frames have game changer performance but are too expensive to find an application in WorldSuperbike. If BMW wants to prove this technology, MotoGP is the place to do it.

Was a great race. Zarco just plain ran out his front tire trying to hold the lead. Dovi knew Marquez would try something in the last lap, that's now 3 times he's cut back behind him and won down the straight, but Marquez was gaining in the slipstream. Dovi earned that win. Once again, Vale races much differently than he qualifies. Anybody see today's Dear George entry? ROFL!

Motogp circus moves to Argentina this weekend. "Termas de Rio Hondo", sounds like an homage to John Wayne himself! I'm counting on another Dovi vs Marquez battle for the win. Who you got?

Hard to pick one really. Vinales won there last season, but this year the track has been ~75% resurfaced and Michelin are giving them extra tires to adapt to the new surface. I'll take Zarco just for kicks.

Argentina FP1 results.
