MotoGP 2019

Anyone care to guess what these devices are for? At the front, the lobe shaped pie plate under the brake calipers. At the rear the scoop in front of the rear tire. I have heard that the one at the front is to fight chatter but who knows? The scoop at the rear is rumored to help cool the tire to extend it's operational window...Ducati's full if cool gadgets. Friday is FP1 BTW!

They talked about the rear scoop on 'after the flag' (MotoGP site) as being a tyre cooler.

This is in Spanish but you get the idea. The cost of a crash in MotoGP.

It seems that Petrucci has been doing the bulk of the development work for Ducati this off-season. Can't say for sure, but I think it was the same for Lorenzo previously. He was always the one with the new aero fairing bits, while Dovi chose to race the wingless fairing most of the time. Petrucci talked about trying to get better life from his tires this year and tried to lose weight over the winter. I suspect these devices are to further that cause.

I'm a lefty too Road! I knew there was something I liked about you! I like the thumb brake idea too. I have damage to both legs and my modulation of the rear is questionable at best, so a thumb might be a good addition. Is there one available out there?

Yes bro there is a good one , I will get onto it and post some info here . Some stunters are using them also , but as soon as I saw them , I thought the same about more effective use of rear brake in my rides . I found my saved info from toolbar on this piece , not cheap , maybe there are better price from elsewhere , and / or other makes . here is link

YIKES this one from Brembo is not cheap!

I know that aerodynamic engineers are a lot smarter than me, but the evolution seems to have gone from smooth to angular. Guess it's about controlling lift rather than eliminating resistance? Just looks counter-intuitive to my eyes.
Maybe something to do with the limited ECU tuning ? bike power and speed seem to necessitate angles, must be the latest answer to less wheelie/lift and stability.
Alot of riders have said the wings cause lots of instability if your following, KTM boss doesnt like them because of this, F1 drivers have had similar issues.

One thing I found interesting is the front fender. Not the sexiest in the sport, but they have apparently left well enough alone whilst the others are all constantly changing for one reason or another. Maybe Suzuki likes it the way it is, or just haven't gotten around to it yet? I know Yamaha and Ducati both have done a lot of work on this area recently. Whether for Aero or tire cooling or???

Streamlining being smooth is a myth actually. Look at all of the current stealth fighters - they are angular. I had this explained to me but it's complicated, too complicated for me to be able to reproduce that explanation.
