MotoGP 2020

Maverick being stuck behind Vale's bike was the issue, the heat got them all , watching the other riders hobbling off their bikes and slumping into their seats afterwards you can see they were all spent.

Vale said they had gone a different way with set up - said it again at the post race, to me he has to change HIS style of riding, i think he's seen the other Yamaha riders data more than enough times now and must adapt to, Yamaha aint gonna build a bike just for Rossi when the other 3 are doing ok. Yeah he still is a legend :)
Rossi said in his interview he argued with yamaha to get his bike changed. Rossi is bigger and heavier than those guys and where yamahahas their weight doesn't work for Rossi. I was surprised he was so blunt. He even said he's not going to do this unless he can have fun. Interesting threat.

I thought he was about the size of Dovi, tall and thin. How much more could he weigh than Marc for example?

So, 8 & 1/2 pounds more than Marc and however many inches .12 meters are. Not any substantial difference in setting up the bike is it?

I don't think you are getting how sensitive these bikes are. They are running at the very edge of traction. Everything, including the rider are accounted for when they design the weight distribution. Not only is Vale heavier he is taller too. The weight of the fuel at the start of the race is said to be why Vinales used to do so poorly at the start of a race.

That young fella can sure ride that bike....a 5 second lead at that level is pretty amazing.

I would have thought Kawasaki and BMW would have had entries in MotoGP, there was one lone Suzuki at least.

Kawasaki was rumored to be loooking at a Motogp run with Rea as the pilot but I hear the time and money it would take to develop a competitive GP bike would mean Rea would be riding a dud and he wasn't interested. BMW doesn't want to do MotoGP because the rules don't allow really extreme prototype bikes. For example the Full CF bodied S1000RR was said to take handling to another level but it would not be allowed in MotoGP. To Kawasaki and BMW, they don't see what they would get out of spending all that cash to develop a limited bike with a control ECU in it.

More great reading from Mat

Ducatis have 30 more hp? I’m not seeing that much speed out of them at any track. I think it’s a tad early to be naming Fabio as the next coming. I agree that Mav seems too serious and mentally blocked so to speak when it comes to variations in his bike, the weather, his tires or the track. Fabio adapts much easier.

Those Ducatis fly man. Watch them on the straights. They run away from the Yamahas. The Yamahas catch up in the corners with higher corner speed but in those sprints down the long straights the Ducs are supreme.

I agree they’re faster but they just don’t look 30 hp faster. I also didn’t see any “run away from the Yamahas”.

Jack Miller said the Dukes dont use 6th at Jerez, but i get what your saying.. until you see a Duke pass a Yamaha (when its at full noise) and its see ya later esp at places like Aragon, Qatar and the Red Bull ring.

Marc Marquez has been under the knife again cause he buggered his titanium plate last weekend.

Stefan Bradl has the job of tameing the Honda in the mean time

Unexpected finish today. Three brands on the podium which I always like but a KTM finishing 1st? Was just Binder’s 3rd GP start too. They’re saying the KTMs have better brakes. They’re certainly not down on power. Dovi and Maverick finished way back. Rossi Q’d poorly but in the race moved up five places to 5th with no drama. Zarco was wrongly punished I believe for the other fast KTM‘s crash. The KTM was ahead by half a wheel on the outside and trying to pass Zarco who was hugging the paint on the inside. Zarcos path around the corner didn’t drift wide one bit but as Espargaro tightened up his path around the corner he bumped into Zarco as they were side by side and slid down and out. Zarco got a long lap penalty but showed the race officials that it didn’t much matter as he rode the wide lap (like he stole it) shocking everyone who watched. Dust was flying as he hauled azz around that section and regained 3rd as he reentered the course. Rins on the only fast Suzuki managed 4th.

Got that right Wuzz - way unexpected

At work yesterday so kept away from the bike forums - mostly , so not to see the results and spent last night catching up Moto3 ,2 and GP + WSBKs phew.

Well done Brad, he looked very comfortable out there indeed.

KTM have a really good package this year for sure , wonder how much Dani Pedrosa's influence wuzz.

Great job Franco to on getting his first podium to.

I think Zarco was in the right and i thought he'd bin it doing his long lap as well , smooth accurate and confident he was.

Joe Roberts got a well deserved podium to.... USA USA lol

Wow, just wow! The crashes in Moto2 and GP were horrendous! As bad as they looked, no serious injuries. I think Vinales was so shook up that in the restart he just couldn’t muster the nerve to really race his best. The missile that cart wheeled across Rossi’s head missing him by inches didn’t seem to affect his nerves although he said after the race that he was very very scared by it. Imagine running into the rear tire of another bike at 190 mph! Then on the last corner of the last lap, a Suzuki manages a second place behind Dovi. In Moto2 that poor rider T boned a bike laying on its side, also at speed and boom! What an explosion!
