MotoGP 2020

There was something wrong for Vinales' bike. I haven't been able to find out what the problem was but wasn't he smoking like crazy on the grid?
And he was told it was nothing........well........we will probably never know.
The Top Gun has the worst luck on race day.

Nope but he was the only rider that chose a hard compound rear tire. I don’t think his tire choice was the problem though, traffic was. He lost the lead before the first corner, to two riders. His first crash was him losing the front and he low sided off track and started back in last place. Pulled into the pits for a minute with no explanation to the viewing public and then crashed out again. Strange.

Well I'm no expert but I don't buy the author's crank explanation. First the inertia issue is mainly in the mass of the crank and rpm, that's probably similar in a V4 or inline. The width of the cranks is not huge as both configurations have 4 pistons. The real reason the Suzuki and M1 turn better is the smooth power delivery of the two bikes. The Yamaha has the cross plane crank and the Suzuki has the VVT engine.

I would buy that having all 4 cylinders in line gets them forward and out of the way so the space where the rear 2 cylinders are on a V4 can be used to relocate the fuel lower and closer to the bike's CG.

He was getting no traction. That's why he went to the other tire. Something going on with the new Michelins tires and the rear suspension of the M1.

Nice shot, air under both tires. Good lookin bike too.

Now it seems that at least two riders are complaining about picking up discarded tear offs whether their tire slipped on one or their intake got clogged. Why are tear offs even needed? It’s not like there are so many bugs on their face shield that they can’t see. I’ve seen several riders wait until they’re on the starting grid to rip them off, leaving them right on the track, where, at the start, traction is really important. Mir’s pretty Suzi made it to the podium and as always, it’s great to see three brands on the podium. Less than one qualified second separated the front runners. Just one lil hiccup during the race can make the difference between winning and not winning.

Regarding tear offs im guessing theres lots of Michelin soft rubber getting spat off onto them ?

Suzuki need to get the qualifying sorted and Mir will stand on the top podium, his passing is ruthless but very clean look at how he despatched Rossi last week and dealt to Fabio and Pol.

Qualifying is simply amazing as said less than a second thru most of the field.

Moto3 as ever highly entertaining esp those last 5 or so laps

Moto2 battles are good and strong to.

Over in WSBK Garret Gerloff is going ok and he's picked up a podium, looked good all weekend.

Why does nbcs decide to show the race hours after its finished. Sitting here trying to not look at results ugh.

Wow! Two Zuks on the podium! How long since that has happened? Poor Rossi lost his front tire in second place. All were on soft fronts and rears. The Suzuki riders seemed to preserve theirs better. Felt bad for Zarco and Dovi who crashed out in the second corner of the first lap due to a rider losing it in front of them who managed to stay up. Traffic seems to really bother Vinales who barley managed a top ten finish despite qualifying up front. Not the case with Fabio. He hauls azz everywhere possible. I can only imagine what it’s like leaning over 60 degrees @ 49 mph and running up to 210 mph every minute and a half...twenty+ times in a row! Man, what talent, stamina and skill!

2007 Vermeulen 2nd Hopper 3rd, Rossi himself said he got sucked in believing he could win, the track temps were low something like 20degC so a lot of the heat in the front tyre actually went down during the front straight...

Reading in MotoGPone site Mav said the Yammy is just to slow when your back further at the start, he said he was on the limiter in 5th and getting passed well before the first corner, you can see this on the onboard replay, also along the main straight on the limiter in 5th & 6th in the slipstream and still cant pass anyone - that must suck. He HAS to qualify front row minimum to be anywhere esp as theres an engine development freeze till after next season.

Nice win for Fabio but he was worried near the end as he said his tyres were shot and he new the ZOOKS are good at the end of races - he was right to be concerned as Mir needed only 1 more lap i reckon to pass and win himself.

Finally a race finish and a WIN for Darren Binder in Moto3 its been a while coming (for both) another cracker race.

Thought Sam Lows was in for a win in Moto2 but Marini was clever , waited for the tyre drop off in Lows bike and pounced to take the top spot.

Great race in the rain, wont spoil it but happy to see someone on podium!
Spoil away....its a MotoGp thread its where you come to find out stuff :beerchug:

Nice win for Petrucci he kept his nerve and his tyres !
Great 2nd for Alex M thoroughly deserved
And the same for Pol and KTM in 3rd

Bugger for Millers machine shitting itself but they new there was a problem and couldnt swap to the other 'dry' set up bike..

Moto2....Joe Roberts did a an awesome job form beyond last on the grid (behind the safety car !!??) to finish top ten.

These riders are impressive. 50 degree lean angles at speed, in the wet! Amazing show of talent and skill. Young Alex certainly showed everyone he can ride that Honda. Seems odd that someone can be a better rider in the wet than he is in the dry. 18th to 2nd is really something. I’m really starting to believe that Vinales is scared of traffic. He’s great at qualifying but not in a crowd. Maybe test riding is in his future. Crashlow struck again. It’s almost expected. Felt bad for Dovi falling off the podium. Seemed his rear lost grip in the final laps more than the others’. Felt bad for Rins and Rossi too. Again though, these riders are a rare breed.
