Another shot of the front of the new Honda. A whole lot of new Aero there! Still not buying their claim of an 8KG weight loss! How could you ever expect to be competitive at this level on a bike toting an extra 18 pounds compared to your competition?

Time posted so far as of Day 2. Note that only the Test riders and Concession endowed factory riders are allowed on track thus far. The times are expected to drop significantly!

Pedro Acosta came out on top of the 3 day "Shake Down" Prior to next weeks test, which should have everyone included in it. Interestingly enough Acosta set his fastest laps with the latest Carbon Fiber chassis on his GAS GAS (KTM). Interesting to see Zarco up in third place on the new Honda too. All the Bikes showed a bunch of new Aero bits, next week likely even more of the same! Espargaro, Pedrosa and Crutchlow are considered test riders so it skews things ever so slightly. Looking forward to the test next week, should be a barn burner!

Interesting shot of the (probably one of several in development!) new Ducati GP24 lower fairing seen at the Shakedown. I think its just a matter of time till one of them shows a blown diffuser system of some kind. I find the technology interesting, but aesthetically the new GP bikes are just horrendous to look at compared to the likes of say a Cagiva C594, a bike I personally think was the high water mark of the genre in the looks department.

@bigoltool has the aero gotten to the point that it is customized to each rider's size and shape? Are aero suits still off-limits? Seams the helmet alone could help
Pretty certain the riders spend a lot of time in the wind tunnel along with the aerodynamicists trying to prefect body position, helmet spoilers etc. That's where the Hump in the leathers originated. The problem is trying to address all the possible aero scenarios that a bike and rider will encounter on a given lap. Full tuck in a straight line might be 1-2% of a lap, the rest has the rider dangling his leg, standing on the pegs, or sticking a knee out in a corner. A lot going on.

Another view of the Ducati lower Fairing, I do not even pretend to know what all they are trying to achieve with all this.
