wnet to pennsylvania this weekend soft bags two up  , about  200 miles each way  . half way there  pull  off for a quick pit stop , got real cold just before the delaware water gap had to add more layers ,  so we are gettin back on the  I80  wind her up to about 7 grand in first , shift into second  start winding her up again hits 7 grand and it feels like the chain jumps a tooth and then grabs again . wtf ! scared the #### out of me so i let off the throttle catch my breath all seems fine , i mean i am alive ! the bike is still in one piece  ,  so i wind her up again  , same thing . so i get her in 6th and leave her there doin between 80 and 100 mph cruisin speeds no problems !  whole way home take her up to speed easy no problems ! solo ride today runnin through the gears does it  again  , so i can make it happen in second ,  i cant get it to happen in first  and third  at that  rpm in third with my problem could be scary / dangerous ? and i dont think i can open the throttle in first as much as i can second   could this be a cush drive problems ?  sprockets seem ok , chain is adjusted , could it need more lube ?  any way  can anyone give me an idea as to what could be wrong ?

         thanks

Sounds like that was pretty scary. I don't have the solution to your problem but I'm curious as to what it might be so I can keep an eye out on mine. Hopefully someone will chime in with some answers. Glad you got where you were going safely.

thanks for checkin in on my post hopin to get an awnser with 4000 miles on the bike , i take it everywhere i can ! i was hopin that someone would say yeah its the cush drive , but i guess i couldnt get off that easy ! i realy dont know how to describe whats hapening except for the way i said , its fugged up ! i drove home and to and from work today , i can make it doit if i want , if i dont WOT! it wont happen! i have tommorow off so i am going to go over the whole bike ! wanted to pull the rear wheel tonight to inspect the cush drive , with no center stand or other stands how can i get the rear wheel off ? would this be the right place to start looking ? what symtoms best describe a bad cush drive ?
thanks again

If it's second gear than it sound like your shift dog is shot.  Luckily your bike is still under warranty.  Bring it into the shop and tell them what it's doing and tell them bitches to fix it.  The bad new......if I'm right you are talking about a lengthy job.  They will have to pull the motor and split the cases to get the parts replaced.

It's happened to quite a few people's Busas. Basicaly 2nd gear is jumping out of gear when you get on it right? I would be willing to bet if you get on it in 6th it will do the same thing. If I remeber correctly they 6th and 2nd share the same shift dog. The best thing to do to test this would be adjust your chain and make sure it's well lubed as well as check your alignment on the rear tire. After that take it out and get on it in all gears. If you only have a problem in 2nd gear (and maybe 6th) then it's somehting in the tranny (shift dog I would be willing to bet). If it was the cush or chain or clutch it would do it in all gears.

Hope this helps.

thanks , i will contact them today ! sucks but , could be worse ! one more question if i cant get an appointment for a week or so can i still ride ? or is it dangerous , or will i destroy somthing else ? hard to be without the busa !

I don't know how to answer that one. I would think it would be o.k. to ride it just don't get on it. I've never had it happen to me otherwise I would be able to give you a better answer on that one. I would think though as long as you take it easy and it doesn't keep popping out of gear that you would be fine. Just don't let the dealership give you any #### about it not being covered or it being your fault. If they do make sure you post up so others can give you advice on what to do.

I would call them and just explain that you need to get this taken care of RIGHT AWAY. Let me know what happens and what they say it is.

sounds good ! it never pops out of gear to neutral or grinds for a long period of time it is just a quick pop but definatly is a problem cause i like to wack the throttle every now and then ! calling now !

No I don't think it will, If I remember correctly it's just a quick pop in and out, but I could be wrong. Hopefully someone else that has had this happen will chime in.

just got off the phone with my dealer , said he will take it thursday am , to look at it . i asked him if he had an idea what it was he said usualy when it pops like that its a shift dog /shift fork problem , he said bring it in and he will contact suzuki about the problem , also said drive it ! but dont create the pop ! if the pop becomes unpredictable stop driving it but it should be fine if i drive easy in second gear ? he also asked if i new if the bike had missed a shift ? i said no way ! i am the only one who has ridden it ! i havent even found the false nuetral problem ! shifts perfect ! thanks for the advise

went to the dealer to get the busa back , the tech after havin my bike for several days says " couldnt get the bike to do it ,i dont know if i was gettin on it hard enough , so i lookrd at a few things and noticed the shifter nut had loosened up " so as im scratchin my head screamin bullshit , not out loud cause i know the bike is not fixed ! cause i read posts on that and the clutch lever and all other common problems and double and tripple checked them before i took it too the dealer and felt like a jerk ! so anyway he says to me " i didnt get a chance to road test it or put it on yhe dyno , i might be able to do that tom ! " wtf!wtf!wtf!wtf!

biggrin.gif
so any way go back to dealer tell him whats up he says " if i take your bike now you wont get it back till the end of sept ? but at least your problem is documented and you can ride until i have time to fix it ? just take it easy in second gear ! wtf , i didnt buy the busa to go from first to third ! so i want to call other dealers to see if they can help , but dont want to turn my bike over to dealers for a several day test ride for them to only tell me maybe your not gettin it all the way into second ? its a lonc way from first to second ! wtf i put 4000 miles on the bike in 2 months never missed a shift this bike loves the gears it wants to go never had a prob now after 4000 miles im not gettin it all the way into second ?
wink.gif
so im realy not sure what to do ? any advise i dont want to scream at the dealer but i want to scream at someone ! new dealer or work with the guy i got the bike from ? sorry for the book but it has been frustrating without a bike!

SCREAM AT THE DEALER!!!!

I'm getting pissed just reading this. Tell that good time dealership that you know what the problem is, he knows what the problem is and that they had your bike for almost a week and never even REALLY tried to find the problem.

Now if you don't get anywhere there talk to the dealership manager, if you don't get anywhere with him talk with the owner. If you don't get there ask for their regional manager or whoever is above them.

While you are doing this call some other dealerships, look for a big dealership, even if it's a little bit of a drive. Explain to them the problem you are having and what this dealership is doing and ask them if they can help you out.

Remind these people that you talk to that you spent over $10,000 for a bike to ride, not to sit there because their product is defective. Ask them why you have a warranty? Ask them why they advertise a bike with 6 gears if you can only use 5, and that is what they recommend you do. You've tried the nice route, now it's time to be a ####. I've heard of a couple of other dealerships saying that they can't get to it for several months to try and get the customer to go somewhere else, so pull their punk card.

remember if you choose to call another dealer, like i would at this point, be nice to them - they have yet to give you the run around. Have a plan when you call and make sure you ask them for help and what you should do. Some people like to help those in need. Give another Stealership a chance to earn your buisness. Screaming and Yelling doesnt work 80% of the time :p

I agree, while at this point I would not be able to contain myself with your current dealership a different one has done no wrong as of yet.

thanks i will start calling tommorow this is suposed to be the largest dealer on li ? i just dont want to get screwwed again??? i ll keep yasd posted

you haven't been slamming gears or doing any clutchless shifting lately have you? And if you have don't say a word to the dealer about it.....
