Need your advice about selling a bike.

When i was selling my pro street car i would meet potential buyers in the parking lot of the thornton police dept. Was a pita loading up the car and heading out there, the car always drew a crowd from the officers coming in and out, hit up a few of em and give them the heads up and they'll hang around or keep an eye out. Had a few guys that were hardcore into it until i said yea meet me there then no more interest:whistle:

No worries, I think I will just pull her out front, put her on the front and rear stands and shut the garage doors. Lots of emails coming in about I must buy it today, no calls yet.

Ok, so what do you do when you get a call from Florida and they guy wants to buy the bike and have a shipping company pick it up? I am scared to death to be scammed here.

His money is confirmed by your bank to be in your account, before the bike leaves your property. Like a Paypal transaction.

What scares me is the whole deal. Don't people.get.scammed like this all the time? So he paypals me the money and I move it to my account. The only way I would still be comfortable is going to the bank and pulling the funds out. You know he will want it shipped as soon as the paypal hits.

Do it that way then. I have a second bank account that I use for ebay, ordering parts, paypal, ect. You're doing nothing illegal by getting your money first. If he wants your bike it's his risk if you ship it to him or not(we know you're legit, just saying). As soon as you have money in hand, give the ok for the shipping company to pick it up. The shippers can even be waiting on you to get back from the bank. Your bike can ship the same day or next day just fine, and legally.

Maybe that's his business. Go for it, get your money, and then ship the Busa out before he buys another one! You have parts to buy!!!

Ok, I replied to him. Told him that I will only release the bike for shipping after he pays via paypal and the funds are a verified deposit at my bank. Lets see what happens. Crap like this makes me nervous. Another thing that worries me, he never asked about the condition of the bike, how it ran, scratches, any problems, nothing. I know my cycletrader ad was pretty descriptive but if I was buying a bike online without seeing it I would have some questions.

Doesn't sound good. But as long as you get your money first and ship the next day, there shouldn't be any problems. Personally, when I sell something I have my pistol on me. And I usually give a friend a beer to be there with me hanging onto one of these...

Good luck. I would be "skeered" too. That is a good thing, keep you on your toes. :)

Maybe if you hear back from him, you could see if any local FL orgsters would go by and check him out for ya.

The first time we put the Bandit up for sale we got calls from GA saying they wanted to buy if we shipped. I told them 'cash only' and never heard from them again.
