We aren't blind to how other countries have been oppressed... where do you come up with that?

This point you are making is a comparison trap. It is the unrealized potential for humanity to succeed in a great way that inhibits to world from moving forward. Why do we have unrealized potential? Look how many resources are spent attempting to project force an the name of peace. Another part of it has to do with manipulation and control by the rich and powerful over the masses. Every country has the ability to prosper in many ways, not just the financial aspect. New technologies are leveling the playing field somewhat... Getting the political class and the connected people out of the way is another area where we have the unyielding friction of big government.

I never saw president Trump dodging reporters... many times he stood there and answered question after question for reporters from all networks with the helicopter waiting for him to board. Add to that the antics of Jim Acosta and all the direct disrespect he could muster in an attempt disrupt press conferences.

Biden on the other hand announces which reporters he is suppose to call on so that they can pitch him another softball question that won't have him looking inept or confused because the script for him is already written and rehearsed for TV sound bites...

I don't contribute to the Trump re election team, the Republican Party, or any group with political desires. I simply believe president Trump was much more aligned with Constitutionally based practices than any other President in recent times. I believe the is why he drew the crowds he did. We never heard F%^$ Trump at college football games like we do with Biden... why is that?

To the immigrant point... once a sustainable population of size is in place the amount of new immigrants needed to keep pace with production tapers off. That dynamic is also impacted by automation and newer and better technologies. Doing more with less is almost always better for the environment. With China and the 1.4 billion people living there more resources are spent to simply manage the population. It seems that during Mao's time when he starved 45 million people to death it hardly dented Chinas population growth.

As far as the rich getting richer... I agree capitalism has some faults... however, rich people think differently... Even if the unfairness of politically managed laws were struck from the laws on the books eventually most rich people would regain some or most of their wealth.

If ottas thread split into a few different directions(most seem to be related though keep that in mind) then why would Otta get upset?It's a thread.Be happy we all have a platform to vent as the world is a poop hole right now with different rules for for THEM and US being more obvious than ever before.

Read his post on this particular subject, he started a thread and it went right down the usual rabbit hole and he's not particularly happy about that and I don't blame him.

Kind of but this was Otta's personal reach out venting frustration and the next thing we all know, it turns into a pro-Trump rally...as it seems most threads are these days...

Did I tell you not to apologise?No I didn't.I gave an opinion which I'm entitled to.If it upsets you that the thread went down the 'rabbit hole' as you say then you don't have to contribute to it.Or do and continue to get upset by it.Your choice:beerchug:

Your first line in your reply states that "Just my opinion here but I don't think anyone needs to apologise to anyone unless there is some sort of physical or mental attack."

By posting this statement in your opening reply is a finger pointing at my apology to Ottafish, something of which I still believe in.

Yes, it upsets me to a point that each and every thread on almost each and every topic goes down the "Trump Love Rabbit Hole." Discussion is discussion but the constant battering of the electoral process within the US gets monotonous after a while.

The founding father of this forum (@captain ) through hard work and resilience has kept an online forum going where most have failed, it has become an international forum to boot. If we as members allow this forum to sink to the level of all the other ones out there it will fail, I think we can at least agree on that.

This thread was political when the word "Lockdown" gets used. But I apologize to @ottafish for contributing to his disappointment in it's content.

Mate apologise to whoever you want.I'll never apologise for continuing debates whether political or not as that's what forums do.
The thread was about venting in a country like Australia that's a fooked up spot right now and the world sees it as so.Great to see the people fighting back there.(I couldn't give a sh1t if you still believe this is about a virus/the health of the nation....it isnt).

Everybody that contributed with their comments whether you like them or not are 'venting' about related and sometimes non related but still political(which you could say are sometimes related....political afterall) and venting is healthy.Thats what otta started at 1st.He needed to vent.We all do.
 
I feel your pain @ottafish, but it is an open forum so you really can't control where a topic flows. I tried to inject a little humor in your thread and got chased out of it lol! When I did my build thread I wanted it to be a serious discussion on the strategy involved in planning a build. That lasted about 5 posts! haha. Finally, I just resigned myself to the fact that my primary goal in sharing was to spark traffic and that's a good and a bad thing. If you really want to discuss a serious subject, it's much better done on a PM.

On another note, I don't get how you can not talk politics. We in the US are in the middle of some huge challenges to our freedoms (right to vote, a woman's right to control her own body, rebuilding the middle class, and even White Terror) so I don't know how we could not discuss politics. It's not some esoteric conversation that doesn't matter anymore, it will have a huge impact on our lives.

Me to... if an infantry unit shows up at your well equipped compound you will not only be outnumbered... you will be isolated. It will play out like the Alamo in the end. In a neighborhood battle against trained troops it will end badly. Hit and run tactics might preserve your life expectancy for a little while... thats it.
 
To Ottafish... where you are is a microcosum to where we will end up collectively if the powers that are behind this massive attack on humanity are not cancelled or stopped in some way. Even the political recall process is a slow and painful one as the Governor of California was successful in maintaining his totalitarian grip on the state where I live in the US.

You are on the front line of totalitarism... and its where many more of us could end up sooner or later regardless of where we live.

As much as you dislike the political aspect... just notice how much farther down America has gone since a new president was elected / installed, or whatever happened on 11-03-2020.
The southern border, the economy and overspending.... Afghanistan... all shifted to an even bigger black hole of incompetence and mismanagement under the new White House occupier.

Back in the 70s when things were getting out of hand somebody came up with... stop the world, I want to get off! lol ! All I can say jokingly is... Hurry up Elon Musk... we need new worlds for people to move to that want the changes most of us here want nothing to do with. Those people that you see driving around alone and wearing their mask should move to "Planet Feer"... Its many of the same people that buy all the toilet paper and water at the stores.

Ha, I see these people and think to myself they are really very lazy, too lazy to take off their mask or they are very paranoid...

I used to see people walking by themselves down the street of our subdivision wearing a mask...I'd shake my head...

The pandemic is real, Covid is a real thing and I still believe measures have to be taken to curb it's grip, but the media certainly hasn't been our friend in all this by striking fear into citizens.

I think that is just what the government wanted so people would have a little fear motivation to take precautions.....without this sort of motivation, people would snub their noses and do nothing.

One of the seniors we look after would rarely leave her house and if we stopped by she'd go get a mask on even though we were all very low risk. She lived alone and rarely if ever had anyone come over yet she'd be in there scrubbing down everything with disinfectants....I told her the best thing she can do is to shut off the news channel and she is so low of a risk it's almost laughable. She has both vaccines for some time now and is sort of back to a semblance of normality....

By and large many people are too easily triggered ( that should get a laugh ) Do you really believe all the so called variants are developing from the first covid attack?

Anyway... Gain of Function research continues in Wuhan. The power of the dark side of humanity continues to find more ways to restrict freedoms, encumber businesses with more regs, and pump more funny money into the banks in an attempt stop the financial bleeding. What does the Fed call it... transitory?

Meanwhile, any country wanting to keep pace with the USA is printing their own fiat currency which will turn out no better that it does in the USA.... and probably weaken faster than the dollar does. Its like a race to the bottom for financial Armageddon.

Can we recover from all of this? Yes.... but the people with power and connections won't allow those to big to fail buddies to theirs that day of reckoning. The 2008 bailouts set up a good portion of what ails us today.
