New to 'Busas, but very tempted to buy...Help!

Make it SIMPLE.
If the Hayabusa is your chosen beloved, work yourself up to
buying a VIRGIN.
Meantime, the thrill is in the chase!
You can fall off ANY bike or get rammed at the lights, even if you were in a VOLVO!
Just factor all of this into your riding intelligence. The rest will come naturally and joyfully!
If you can afford it, avoid second hand anything.

buell peg mod will be a must for us tall guys and you'll love the extra room over stock. i think your wife and you will be happy with this type of bike. powerful and touring capabilities, no question about it. good luck with your choice and post up some pic's when you get her. :beerchug:

Thanks. I did read it shortly after you'd mentioned (a couple days ago) there's a sticky dedicated to "Busa as a first bike". After reading it, I am back to considering something a bit smaller, however, this technically wouldn't be my first bike - just my first street bike. I know that a Busa will handle VERY differently than the 350s I'm used to in the dirt and mud. I've ridden Ninjas and CBRs, so I do have some experience on the road. I've got an idea of the different handling characteristics of a road bike.

I really appreciate your concern - I do believe you're only mentioning it out of my own best interest, and I do take your recommendation seriously. I'd definitely consider another bike that is big enough for my 6'4" frame and can run 2up on mountain roads, since that's the whole reason I'm thinking I'd like a road bike. If it's something I could be comfy on for 3+ hour rides, I'd be very interested. I guess I'm not familiar enough with other sport touring bikes.
Anyone have any experience with Honda VFRs?

Thanks again for the concern.

My pleasure. Really glad to see that you have taken my comments in the spirit they were intended. The Bus is a great bike....but not as a 1st road bike.

I came from the dirt 20 years ago....road bikes are very different.

A SV650 is a great starter bike for someone with your background.

Sweet! Thanks for the 411! I'll check them out! I've been on CBRs, Ninjas, YZFs, and the Busa - The Busa just felt right, at least when talking about riding position and how I fit it.
I went to the local Yamaha shop to see their FZ1, but again, I just didn't like it compared to the Busa.

That said, I will admit that at the suggestion of some members, who I believe are looking out for my best interests, I am considering a few other bikes.
The problem is finding something large enough for my frame that I can feel comfortable on for hours at a time and that has the power to go 2 up all the way.

But I will post a photo or two if i get a Busa! I'd have to, wouldn't I? After all you guys have helped me out with!

Agreed, but, alas! With the mortgage, and two car loans, it's used or nothing for me. :'( Oh, wait!! Maybe I could pick up one of those AWESOME Hyosungs! No offense if anyone out there has one...
