OBD2 Digital Speedometer Project

I know it will now work with OBD2. It will be GPS only. The OBD2 doesnt function after flashtune. The one I ordered is same unit just GPS instead of OBD2. Not sure how the power is going to work but I will report back. I still have to hook up the autotune as well so right side fairing will be coming loose as well as a couple other pieces to get that done. One night this week will be a bike night.

I forget that you bought the whole autotune kit with yours and not simply a flashed like mine. That's unexpected issue to have, I'd be curious to find out why. May have issues pulling codes and such thru the OBD2?

Hopefully the new one just comes with a step down so you can just wire it to 12v and still operate on the 5V USB.

Rooting around sites last night looking for a possible alternative, but think Ked has it figured out. The ones he is using is laid out properly and would have the slack in the LCD ribbon to make the new housing much smaller.

Not sure it may come with just obd plug like the first one.

So I found out that the OBDII still works with the speedo. I overlooked the extension cable coming unplugged. So the GPS version of my speedo came yesterday. It comes with a 12v style outlet like a cig lighter. No step-down just straight 12v. I'm back in business with a speedo.

Been digging around for maybe something that could fit a little better. What I've discovered is basically it comes down to what you want the LCD display to look like... IE the layout of the info. These are the better ones and think they could fit on top of our dash. All are around $40ish other than the first one, it's a little over $100.

I like the GP11 its very similar to what i have already.

I like certain screen displays for each one of them, lol.

I'm interested to mess with the small HUD style, just to see if maybe it could be positioned to display speed on the windscreen without looking out of place. Wishful thinking for sure and think the angle of the screen is too much, but still would like to test.

I keep digging around for different options, I need to decide and proceed. I already know, while the one I have works fine, just won't be able to design a housing to fit properly without looking funny due to the short LCD cable.

Really digging this one, other than I hope the RPM side will auto adjust. I think this would just fit like Ked0607 and not really need to do anything else other than to seal it, plug it in and use velcro or 3M tape to hold it in place securely.

I haven't needed to seal mine. It works great. Water really hasn't been an issue if it's not torrential downpour

What's your thoughts on how it holds up if your bike is parked outside and get lots of rain? That's my main concern because I know I won't remove it every time.

see above photo . Also where did you find that speedo? Looks good I may want to try it depending on its functions. Can you link it for us?

I'm honestly not sure, just was grabbing pics of ones I liked, lol. Let me see if I watched or saved it, if not I'll find at lunch again and send a link

Doing a reverse image search since can't find many places to buy using regular Google, found a better deal for $30 so ordered one.

Let me know how long the cable is. That's not a reg usb plug on it. May be too short. I had to get an extension for mine

Definitely not regular USB, but appears to be the same plug the speedo I have now. I never fully routed my cable, which I should have done while it was apart, but while it's close I think it's long enough to work. Knowing how Chinese stuff goes, if it's the same as my current one it should be okay.

Now for the waiting...

When I routed mine I was about 2.5 ft short. I was beyond pissed to have the bike torn apart and have to reassemble just to tear it back apart to finish it. Then the damn tape came loose and had to retape and zip tie it again.....

Damn, but kind of glad it is non-USB since it seems to be longer. I only routed mine from dash, down to inner fairings along frame, along seat and into the tail. It was just long enough and I think when permanantly ran it won't add any extra....but it will definitely be close.
