going to need to haul around
for cleaning up after the turd .

What happened to your 18 Road King that made you go to the FJR? Just curious.
I had 19 Harley's over the years. I just bored riding them and got tired of the expense and having to add 3k worth of things to get them where I want.

The FJR has heated grips, cruise, electric WS, adjustable seat and handlebars, shaft drive and it is lighter and faster that HD. I can fit a full size helmet in the side bags. I never liked the top bags...

I can totally understand that! I just added a Rostra electronic cruise control to my Burgman 650 a few weeks ago! After having the Audiovox CCS100 on the Busa for the last few years, I knew I wanted my automatic touring scooter to have it! I consider the cruise control on my Busa my favorite mod! I just installed Oxford heated grips on the Burgman yesterday! Mine is a 09 standard version so electronic windshield, heated grips, and heated seat wasn't offered, only the Executive model had those features. I can fit two full size helmets in the under seat storage space!
What year is your FJR? I believe it was 2014 when they added cruise control, right? I loved the red in that year! My friend had a dark gray one for awhile after selling his 08 Busa, he has a Honda 929 now, but always says he misses his Busa.
Sorry for the thread jack, Getn off!

My FJR is a 19.

Yeah Ali, the BMW demands a certain approach to riding. It works very well provided you ride it properly, but to be honest I prefer to ride like I want to ride. Trust me on this but you have no idea what I'm talking about until you ride one, the thing is an incredible "feel" bike. Spend a few hours on it and everything else feels like its rattling apart cheap.

To me, HD's have that unique feel too. But the feel is rough and massively substantial like its made of solid iron or something. That's the thing the knock-offs can't seem to copy (or maybe don't want to) - that feeling of incredible substance and weight.

maybe u should name the BMW the "porn star"...… seeing its how one has to "ride it PROPERLY"...… sorry arch... my mind is in the gutter today.

That's the problem. Riding the Busa is more like a porn star, the BMW is frigid cold. Perfectly boring is how I described it to someone once. That's the way BMW designed it. To them the adventure is what's going on around the bike, and their bike doesn't get in the way (until it breaks down). With a Busa the adventure starts when you fire it up. Your attention is on the Busa when you ride her, everything else is secondary. HD's frankly are more engaging than the BMW an more comfortable too, so I'm not too hard on them because they take a pretty valid approach to doing what they do. There is nothing wrong with the HD formula, except their customers are dying off.

Man after the last 2-3 years I could write a book about bikes and personalities and how all of that impacts your enjoyment of a motorcycle. My specific expertise is how to burn a mountain of cash on the wrong bike.

Nice Description Arch :beerchug:

Best description I usually give to someone is a Harley feels like a .357 revolver. You put it in your hand and you can feel the weight of it. You can’t help but “feel” it in your hand and know what it is. It doesn’t feel overly heavy but when it’s in your hand you feel the weight and balance of the gun. Everything on it feels solid and purposeful.

Then you put a glock in your hand..... The polymer handle the overall lightness of the gun. Almost doesn’t feel like a real gun feels like a toy. That’s how it feels on a Harley vs a crotch rocket. Both have their purpose and place. Both can adequately get the job done all in the same. It just comes down to personal preference.....

I like my bikes to have a bit of personality. When I sit on the Busa it has a feel and a sound that lets me know I’m on a motorcycle. When I crack that throttle she’s angry and you have no choice but to respect it and hold on for the ride! Same thing with my Harley’s. They have character and a sound that reminds of an old muscle car that just fired up in a garage pulling out. That’s kinda been the knock on some of these new metric and euro cruiser bikes. You fire em up and they are ultra quiet. Little to no vibration and even the acceleration is fast and smooth almost like too smooth kinda lulls you sleep to a point where you look @ the speedo and not realizing how fast your really going!!!

Well I was riding the BMW today and that bike is truly alone in what it can do as a 750 lb bike with bags, full wind protection and crazy electronics. But it does it sounding like a sewing machine. I pulled up next to a couple guys on HDs today. They looked over and didn't return my wave. I just hung next to them and then walked away, all I could hear is their engines until they were long in the distance.

Guess its all in how you see things.....

I didn't think u were gonna be happy with that bimmer….. u say u don't ride fast or hard anymore.... but I have this feeling that isn't entirely true.. truth be told... ANY bike is gonna have a hard time comparing favorably to the busa all around.... its the Muhammad ALI of motorcycles.... the bimmer u bought seems like an aging LARRY HOLMES.... with his great jab and thoroughbred credentials... yet somehow Larry holmes never got the respect he deserved...following Muhammad ali was a blessing and a curse.

Wow. This is one of the best posts I think I have ever read. Very articulate Arch.
I agree completely.
You really do have a gift of writing and word articulation bro. If you enjoy it, I would look into finding a pt gig (for fun) in the field of creative writing. You would exel at it.
