Opinions on Ferguson MO

You just like me now because I got a suit to go out on the track!

It would indeed make me proud to see you get to the track. However, the track is more addictive than cocaine. You will learn more in one day at the track than you will learn all season on the streets, even more if you enroll in a track school.

I'm watching you! :watching:

Ok, what do you "blue curtain" guys have to say about the NY situation? Arrest is on video, guy is not aggressive, band choke hold used by cops, no attempt to revive the suspect, no violent history - just selling illegal smokes, cops walk. Like I said, no penalty for killing an n-word. Its crazy because if I were to run into one of these storm troopers on a ride in the middle of nowhere and I got off the bike he could fill me with lead because I'm big, black and "threatening"

ADULT LANGUAGE, PARENTAL ADVISEMENT, NO KIDS

The same applies to Garner 1) Don't break the law, then act like a victim when you get caught. 2) Don't resist arrest.

I have to apologize. I've been working and have not kept up with he latest media issue. From the little bit I've seen Mr. Garner was violating the law and resisted arrest in a very mild way, but no one knows if that situation would have changed ( big guy ). Absolute no no from my training to place someone in a choke hold. I thought I heard the coroner stated that the choke hold contributed to his death, but wasn't the main reason he died. Still an issue regardless in a civil action and from a training perspective for NYPD. I haven't heard officially but the piling on was probably a major contributing factor and the subjects health. All my first aid training states that if you can talk or cough you are breathing, But as always I have no facts. I saw part of the video once at real speed. As for your last statement, don't violate the law, if you do and get caught ( we do , I have ) do what you're suppose to do ( heck leave your gear on ( talking strategy from your perspective ) do exactly what the officer ask and you'll probably be alright.

Excellent video. So is this woman a racist or she representative of the majority of the black community ? If she is the former we have a Problem. If she is the later we have a different problem. If she is the later we have a problem that she is not being heard by anyone in either race.

I could post up all kinds of vids like this that I've seen posted on FB in the last two weeks. Please start using some common sense folks and looking at every situation with an open mind. I'm not an expert in anything, just an average Joe that's been around awhile. You have some people politicizing events where people of different races have an interaction to cause division in this country for political cover IMO. Originally it was to win an election. Yes, shame on them but double shame on all of us for falling for it, if you're guilty, I wasn't. You also have the Rich v. Poor, women v. men. Our country has never been so divided in my life.

Did anyone catch where our economy slipped to the number two spot for the first time since 1870 ......... or that the national debt broke 18T ? We're in deep trouble folks and this is all the media has to do ? Think about it peeps.

Too many misunderstandings to address in the last ten pages I just read. Start doing some research, talk to a cop or two, use some common sense.......errr and snopes once in awhile

She is right !

Yes, divided we fall... falling already... great stories for the media, both left and right, to keep our eyeballs glued to the screen and to make more money. If looking deeper, it is inevitable that it came to this.

She is right !

Totally agree she is right. However if she were white and saying it, she'd be a racist. Therein lies the problems. Whites can't say what is right, so I HOPE we have blacks that can stand up and say what needs to be said that is right.

I was just at my bank here in NY and my teller that I always use is black in her early 30's and was just saying the same thing that the lady on vid said :) Also bashed Obama for all the TV shows he's been on , She said he acts like a jerk LMFAO

I believe it happens. I think a kid from another country pulled his phone out and was shot to death in NY. Don't know if that was the Southern part of NY. I need to stop it's not funny when people die, but some comments and perceptions are.

A tragedy, to be sure. Yet, it still sounds as if the kid did something besides comply. Unless the cops told him to reach for his phone.

Don't get me wrong - I think the cops should do everything they can to avoid using force of any kind. That said, and I'm sure you know this personally, if they don't know you, they're in a spot and they must, to some degree, assume the worst to avoid getting the worst themselves. UNTIL they know better. From my perspective, the trick is to give them NO further reason to assume that you're a problem.

I assume that most police wear bulletproof vests and that most of the people they encounter do not.
So is it just a natural reaction to shoot someone when you think they MIGHT be reaching for a gun instead of making sure it is or isn't one.
Doesn't wearing a vest give some type of security (or a feel of) to the officer? Yet they feel justified to shoot first so that they can go home
and so be it if someone gets shot because they were reaching for a phone or wallet?
I know there are no easy answers and like I've said before split-second decisions are usually not the best decisions.

Don't get me wrong I know the police have a difficult job - one I don't think I would want.
But that being said, they must have known at least somewhat, what they were getting into when they signed up to be a cop.
I have to believe that the odds of a criminal getting shot and dying are much much greater then that happening to a cop.
Not every criminal has a gun, right? But don't all cops? I know some places require a cop to be armed even when off-duty.

Well since she's black it must be right. Please. The one thing that she said that no one is going to comment on is when the police officer's life was no longer in danger while he was running away. But yet he's still being shot at. Now I'm no LEO so I will not proclaim to be an expert but is that allowed by law? I think the answer is no. So to her point I am going to say it again, mike brown was not a good citizen. However, he deserves to be tried in a court of law and not in the street. But as none of us were there we don't truly know what happened other than the outcome, another black male dead at the hands of a police officer. That alone at least deserves to go to trial.

Wearing a bullet proof vest protects the torso...to some degree. That leaves a lot of vulnerability, IMHO. It's a degree of additional protection, not invulnerability.
Consider this: We wear a helmet to ride. Doesn't mean that a spill will leave us un-harmed. Just like us, cops are trying to avoid harm in the first place rather than relying on limited measures of protection after the fact.

Re: Not every criminal has a gun.
True (my best guess). And not every dog will bite. But if a dog I don't know barks madly, behave erratically, doesn't listen to commands or it's owner, then I have to assume it's dangerous. Wouldn't you?

Greetings Lycan! Long time, no see. Hope you're doin' well!

As far as trials go, didn't a jury of 12, including 3 black jurors, unanimously vote AGAINST an indictment against the officer? If so, that seems a pretty strong indicator that those most in the know feel that, although tragically fatal, the actions taken were understandable / not what most anyone would do in the situation.
