My old rig is looking pretty good.

My Gen2 (2009 that I bought as a left over in 2011) has been paid off for over a decade and I keep looking at gen3s and seeing the ugly payments and/or big check I would have to write and kills some of the excitement. lol! Tried selling the concours to offset some of the cost but no serious buyers yet.

Carry overs are great.

I do miss the shiny new. But, at nearly 20 years, I can overlook the “patina” on my bike.

Ahh, I’m trying this on the front of the Busa and if it wears well I’ll try one on the rear. They’re something like $235 for BOTH.

$442 for the suspension / steering damper refresh. Not too bad I guess. Tires were $643. Should be good for the season.

Did the obligatory tidying up while I had things apart. Now I don't want to ride it...

90* valve stem is super close to the front caliper. I think I am OK, but will be keeping an eye on it.

I put medium Lock-Tite on shock / linkage fasteners. They have some fancy nuts on them, that I fear are one-time use.

The fact that the one-time "dust cover" was still on the shock (over the Schrader valve) leads me to believe that this was the first time it had been serviced.

What ‘service’ takes place? I watched a former Koni employee rebuild a pair of period correct Koni’s for my 79 CBX. Oil & new O rings was about it. Kept the springs.

Oh, that's because you got the big 90° stems, not the low profile ones.

Sun came out. Got in 100 miles. Nothing fell off.

Got stuck in traffic on the highway. GD high-temp light came on. Guess I should sort that out.

Going to do a nut / bolt check. And confirm no valve stem / brake caliper witness marks.

Central Oregon trip planned for next weekend. Booya.

I’m guessing that the fan is inoperable. Start by bypassing the temperature sensor to see if the fan spins?

It was only 45* today.
