R1 Steve was hit today and left for dead

My friend Steve with the R1 (pictured in the far left picture of my banner) was hit today. He was crossing an intersection here in Lakeland on a green light when a van ran the red light from the east and plowed into his left side. He as apparently dragged about 100 to 150 yards. The occupants of the van jumped out and ran into the woods.

Steve has several broken ribs and toes, already had one toe amputated. The last I heard was at about 2:00 this afternoon. He was going into surgery to have a sliced aorta repaired. That is the most concerning part. If he makes it through surgery there is a chance he'll live.

Please, if you are a praying person, pray for Steve's full recovery. If your not a praying person, maybe now is a good time to start.

the photo below is from our ride down the beach a week ago Sunday.

Thanks

Kevin

Hang in there Kevin, Steve is a tough guy.

I hope the Lankeland PD catch those cowards.
I've been searching for the news report but can't find it. I still have no news about the surgery.

Apparently they fled on foot into the woods, witnesses said they looked like migrant workers. There were 5 LEOs that tracked them through the woods with dogs and found them in a house, but none would admit to driving the van. I'll let you guys know more when more is known.

My only concern now is Steve's life. It was very hard today driving home from Brooksville on the same roads we used to ride together. My prayer is that someday we'll ride those roads together again.

Jesus Kevin, that is horrible. He is in my prayers. I'm not sure if I've met Steve before, but I'm pretty sure I have as there can't be too many silver '04s around here.

Prayed for your Buddy Steve & the rest of the crew on this board. I'm so sorry to hear about this Bro...

I'm going up to the hospital now, I'll let you know what I find out when I return.

Thanks for the prayers.

Damn Kevin.. this really sucks! It's bad enough when you read these kinda posts pretty much every day on one forum or another, but hits home hard when it's someone you've riden with~
