RADAR Question ????????

Just an FYI, the radar isn't needed for them to give you a ticket. . . I know from personal experience because I had a cop tell me as soon as he walked up to my window "I didn't clock you. I clocked that guy and estimated your speed off him." I pleaded not guilty in court and was told that "In order for officers to pass training they have to be able to estimate speed in several different situations with a steady accuracy rate of plus or minus 2 mph, so if he estimated your speed at ___ that number is accurate." Unfortunately for me, he was wrong, but the judge wouldn't hear it. Got to keep the ticket and pay my city $300.

Im not going to argue with ya here...It always your word against His, And most of the time you will lose..:banghead:

Most of us down here in South Florida use Laser, the only time the detector warns you is if the Laser beam actually hits the detector. You can target any part of the vehicle. With Radar the beam is much wider, easier to detect.

I have the Adaptiv TPX Radar and Cheetah M25 Rider laser Jammer on my gsxr and will be putting them on my busa first thing. The TPX works great. It does not give a lot of false readings and its waterproof. The escort is not and the vibrations may also damage the electronics after awhile. I dont know how many times the TPX and Cheetah have saved me while riding.

i have the Escort 8500 X50 and it has paid for itself quite a few times on the bike and in the cage...i had several people tell me it was worthless against laser but it has saved me twice in the nick of time...i won't leave home without it if i am planning on running hard :beerchug:

What do you mean false readings? You do realize that those door openers at the local store are legitimate radar transmissions and if your detector does not pick those up as well then your detector is not very sensitive or it isn't working correctly.

A radar detector is designed to sniff out microwave frequency radar signals and there is no such thing as a "false alarm". The only false alarm is if it detects radio frequency energy outside of the frequencies the police use and unfortunately automatic door openers do happen to be in the same band as some police radar.

And to counter the 9500ix fanboi club before they post an opposing opinion about locking out signals w/GPS, the 9500ix lock out feature is flawed and has been known to block out police radar in the lock out areas.

The TPX system does not report radar detector detectors like the escort does. The reason being it is legal using a radar detector in all 50 sates on a motorcycle where as the escort is for cars and is illegal to use in commercial applications. When a RDD is detected with the escort it will give you a warning which is why I call it a false positive.

Your a typical V1 owner..

You need to do alittle more research my friend..

WarBux,
There's no difference between a car or motorcycle when it comes to having a detector in them.. There are a few states where they are illegal Virginia being one and it don't matter weather it's a bike or car..
Here's a real good site to brush up on detectors and so forth.. I am a member and do my research first.. Not saying I'm the smartest by no means, as I'm always willing to learn. Happy surfing..

There is a difference in the motorcycle radar, read there website. I also do my research..

now I did both of your research for you.

A radar detector detector? How can a detector be detected? It is a reciever. It does not transmit a signal, how can it be detected other than visually?

Oh trust me it can be detected by a radar detector.. I got busted in Pa. for having 1 in our semi, if it's on it can be sniffed out. The only one that is truly invisible is the Bel STI..

Don't be so gullible.. There trying to sell there product, is it good, yes, is it solely made to be put on a motorcycle, yes. Can it be put in a car and work like any other detector? yes.. Is it the best out there, not in my opinion..
I've been using a X50 on my bikes for along time in junction with a screamer speaker which can be heard at speeds above 100mph.. Do I need a detector when it's raining? well ok maybe sometimes.. but for the most part, no..

They do transmit a signal, albiet a small one, and some more than others. My V1 picks up cobra and other cheap RD's all the time.

And you're obviously a typical craig peterson fanboi Guys of LIDAR - Radar Detector Test Sabotage  :poke: :moon:

Proof the 9500ix isn't what they claim it to be. Escort 9500i - True Lock Testing Videos - Radar Detector Jammer Forum

LOL... thats not what I said... I said there were false positives in a car radar because when they detect a RDD they tend to go off. I have used a TPX and I have a car radar. There is a difference my car radar has a RDD. It doesnt go off as much as my car radar because it doesnt have an RDD. Do your research.
