Recent chain of events at the Org.

My faith is a Christian Faith... I believe there is one and only God... You can have whatever faith you choose... We can discuss almost anything you like, just don't belittle me or the GOD that I believe in. In return I will speak to you about any religion you're a part of with respect and not preaching my doctine.

I have never been accused of being the greatest at articulating my words or conveying my thoughts... I have read that post over and over and still have a hard time believing that people walked away confused.. I never said it was a Christian forum, I said don't speak negatively about my GOD...... In almost 12 months not a person, not a single one has brought this up until today. We have been bombarded with people that want to Curse, post anything that want in any manner they want but never questioned or commented on my post from Feb of 09.

I read that post and then went on down and noticed that Wag even posted a certain level of support a few post from the start. This is why I am so astounded that it took this long for someone to say something so I could clarify......

You're astounded someone misunderstood or misinterpreted something you posted on the Internet? How long you been doing this?:poke:
:rofl:

Phew!!!

Let's hope the weather turns fast, so we can all turn our attention to riding again.:laugh:

Will never forget Don's words....

"You judge the size of a man, by the size of the things that upsets him."

Here here, I have complete respect for any man who openly belives in God, and who won't allow others to disrespect that in his house! I admit I can get out of line sometimes too, but I try hard not to. I enjoy being Allowed to be here.
Thank you Capt.

Well mjn,

This started out as a very good thread about getting back to the basics of the org. Now it reads more like a religious debate about what faiths are appropriate.

Sorry to see it went that way. I guess it's time to pick up the guitar and practice for a while. I'll be back when I think the dust has settled.

Cheers,

Doug

I'm not here to cause prolerms, step on toes, or argue. I have only been here for 7 months, but in that short time I have greatly benefitted from many peoples advice, answer to questions, parts for sale, free downloadable service manuals, and even free parts from good folks. As well as good fun and conversation.
I'm not trying to be some goody goody, but like it or not, we need to realize that all this we enjoy and benefit from is provided to us free of charge. And that we have to respect the wishes of the person(s) providing this to us. Just my 2 cents.

No need for you to go anywhere Doug. What is happening here is all good. I'm not one to mince words, life is just too dang short. If I percieve a problem, I voice my opinion. Right, wrong, or indifferent, I voice it. Doesn't matter if I'm at home, at work, or online talking to my friends... communication is of the utmost importance in ANY relationship.

And a persons perception is their reality.

I don't always make decisions here at work that make ALL my employees happy... and I've only got 9 of 'em... there are what,..... 20K plus here? Managing that large a group is not easy. What is important is that "management" clearly verbalize and communicate constantly. A good leader also listens to the group and takes to heart what is said.

While I do think the core of this site is good, I also see the loss of longstanding members a sign.

Wag... great post man. Very well articulated. :thumbsup: Good to see you here.

The issues here are not fatal. We've got a ton of great folk here, I tend to think possibly moderation has gotten a bit too strong too quickly. Too heavy a hand all at once? It happens... I've done it too. If you have rules that are inforced loosely for years, and then put the hammer down all in one day, you're bound to spin the locals out a bit.

I respect Cap for his beliefs... they are beliefs I hold dear as well. I still believe this board is a bit too strict, but hey.. it's Dougs site.

The issues here can easily be rectified with a few things;

Mods/admin
* use the same rules for everyone..including yourselves. (can you say "threadjack"?)This thread is proof positive.
* Communicate. Simple stuff.
* treat members exacly how you'd like to be treated.
* We realize this is not a paid position.... but don't let the power go to your head either. You are no more special than the rest of us.
* Don't expect to start enforcing rules that have not been enforced in years, and not get flack. It's human nature.

Members;
* Communicate. You've got a problem? Voice it. You may not like the answer...but admin doesn't know there's an issue if no one says anything.
* Realize that the decisions mods/admin have to make may not always be ones you agree with. Speak your mind, and either live with the results, or find another home.

I have been a member for a little less then a year now. I have seen a lot of changes and for the most part they have been for the best. Why is it though that we know have to agree to a set of rules for this forum? We are all adults here and we should be able to speak our minds freely(keeping the profanity down) and be able to talk about a wide arrange of topics. Being able to do these things have kept me coming back to this site and I will continue to do this.

You would be correct IF everyone acted like adults... Some just can't do it... We have had rules here for years, we just haven't had to deal with these types of issues in the past.. You say that we now have to agree to the rules, that is because the first defense we received from members that crossed the lines (not using common sense) said what are the rules. We put them down and made it where folks have to accept them again (you have something similiar when you register but most don't read it)... Now we have people asking why we have to accept rules... There are a lot of people here, not everything applies to every person but we have to make sure that everyeone gets the notices....

I know what the rules are by paying attention to posts being made by other members. I am not perfect and have probably stepped over the line a couple of times and apologize for it. You could have just posted the rules up to remind everyone on here of what they were. From time to time people do need to be reminded of what the rules are.

You went to school where you were taught to fear and to obey, be cheerful, fit in, or someone might think you're weird. Life can be perfect. People can be trusted. Someday, I wll fall in love; a nice quiet home of my very own. Free from all the pain. Happy and having fun all the time. It never happened, did it?

I completely agree but as with anything else in this life, people claim ignorance... With the acceptance of the rules there is no way that anyone can say that they didn't know... We wanted to make sure that everyone got the exact same message and that no one was left out...

Most of the members do a superb job, but there are a few that tow the line...

You are correct Cap. From some of the posts that I have read some people are beginning to feel that they are being punished for the actions of a very few. Could you not have just made the ones that like to break the rules of this site agree to the rules? If there are just a few of them and they have a problem with the rules and agreeing to them, then they can simply leave.

If we shadows have offended,Think but this, and all is mended,
That you have but slumber'd here While these visions did appear.
And this weak and idle theme, No more yielding but a dream,
Gentles, do not reprehend: If you pardon, we will mend.:laugh:

LOL!! that's funny... I went to school... and most of the stuff they taught me went in one ear and right out the other..

What I do remember, is my dad saying a very similar...except different set of guidelines for life;

He told me; Fear nothing, you can do anything you set your mind to, obey....as long as it doesn't contradict your convictions, be happy, don't worry about fitting in...(don't be a follower), and don't give a rip about what others think of you.
Life isn't perfect, deal with it.. some people can be trusted, some cannot...learn to descern, study the ability to communicate..it'll help you in life AND relationships, so that someday you'll have a good marriage (20 years in 2 months) , buy a home.. it'll be the best investment you can make (still true, even today), and realize that after all this... you'll still have pain. Again... deal with it.

Threw a private discussion with Captain, I have realized one thing I like that keeps me coming back to this site. I have some pretty strong opinions on certain things. Some of these opinions I have to watch what I say with where I work, because they may cause me to have some issues with the people that I work with. This is because of the nationality of the majority of the people that I work with. I do enjoy expressing my opinions on here because there is a wide range of age groups, nationalities, and the members are spread all over the world and this helps me to get a better understanding of other peoples opinions.
