OK IT wasn't my bike, but first hand, watched a bro go down in a corner, at about 55mph.  GSXR1000 03', doesn't have a scratch on it.  I was amazed, he is using "Flame Sliders", you know the ones that light internally which look pretty cool BTW.  They held up very well and certainly prevented a lot of damage.  BUT your results may vary.  I believe the general opinion is that they will certainly save your plastics in a little tip over or at parking lot speeds but beyond that a certain amount of luck comes into play.  Talk to Cookie or Twisted actually.  I think Twist has some pretty good experiance with them.

From my track experience I recommend them. Ocassionally they do grab the ground and cause the bike to somersault. It is a case by case deal, but they are on my bike.

The only sliders I've ever heard of that work well are the intuitive sliders (lockhart phillips) I've seen them on road race bikes as well. A co-worker wrecked his ZX-9r twice and both times he snapped his pretty billet sliders right off, causing a hair line crack to his frame the second time.

i just wrecked last thurs on I-95 doin 60 (seriously) and i locked up the rear wheel subconciously and she jerked right and tossed me left went down on the left skidded to the grass flipped twice and stopped the left frame slider and bolt bent pretty good but didnt mess with the frame or engine killed the screen, hump, tail, left fairing, and nose put a small hole in the stator cover whick in turn leaked all oil out (sorry EPA) but from what i was told biggrin.gif if it wasnt for the frame sliders i would be a very sad boy
Oh yeah fyi i fractured my left wrist and got a little road rash on my right knee and shoulder but i walked home and thats all that mattered

sorry to hear about your ride.... glad to hear you're alright.

thanks man its all cosmetics (thank god) got all replacement plastics fairly cheap the biggest things i need is an exhaust and rear rim and im good and the first thing i got was a new set of LP carbon fram sliders on the naked frame

no not until i get the engine up and running and off the trailer so i can put a jack under the engine to help with the install probably wont do it for a while

Since my encounter with an SUV I've been wanting to put sliders on, but the only ones I've seen require cutting a hole in the fairing. I'm not going to do that, so I was wondering if there are some out there that don't require the dreaded fairing modification.

I just added my "shogun revolver" sliders yesterday. I wasn't going to do this, because of the frame mod, but after seeing my cousins bike fall in the parking lot, and not a scratch on the fairing, I was convinced!

Also (Side Note) I saw a demonstration of the frame sliders that are for people that don't want to do the frame mod. They did this at a bike show in Dallas last year. These are no good. During the demo the bike was tipped over while parked. This left a crack from the top of the side panel to the bottom. This is worth the cutting, trust me. And if I can do it, anyone can do it.

Lockhart Phillips. Had a few cosmetic scars, but no frame or other damage during a fallover in a parking lot.

hard to say for me.. every 'busa or gsxr that comes into the shop for a crash estimate just gets sliders added to their parts list.. just another item to replace, they don't seem to keep anything from being damaged

Guys this thread is almost 4 years old! A lot has changed for sliders since then.
