riding with 1 front rotor

Personally I think its stupid to ride with one rotor unless the bike came that way. Hey its just my opinion I might be the stupid one riding with both rotors.

I'm gonna put four (4) disks on the front just to poke at the guys who ride with excessive danger and reckless abandon when only two rotors are on the front.

I ride with two rotors and those suckers never get to hot. Hell it's hard to even get the rotor to berak a sweat. Because of this I would like to go to a single but I don't want to add the costs of another m/c for my bike.

Dude i have a 330 kit and only one front rotor, and as long as you watch what your doing and watch for A holes pulling out in front of you you'll be fine...plus the front rim is easier to clean!! HA thought yaw would like that i had to say it!

busaluvr, what mods did you do to your front. steel brake line, stronger brakes????

thanks for all of the input. and yes it is a true statement that i am not a speed freak. i am more about the looks of my busa than i am the speed. even at my fastest, which i wont post cuz most of you would laugh (1??), i was definitely faster than the average car.

my mechanic suggested that i go with a steel braided brake line vs. stock. is this correct?

I would honestly go braided steel even on a stock bike with both rotors, makes a huge difference in getting the big girl tamed

I like how it looks, i've got 5k in wheels and tires on mine, would i loose a rotor to show it off...eh havent done it yet i more less like the peace of mind that its all there if i need it. Take it off and give it a try, if ya dont like it or arent comfortable put it back on is my .02

Please, do not go cheap......and then come back saying it sucks. spend the money, get another master cyl. and then make your judgement.

I have ridden them both, and do NOT notice a lot of difference. Personally, I don't want to do it, but my buddy does it to ALL of his bikes. Of course, I outweigh him by over a hundred lbs, too!

Do not go to one rotor. It may work okay but is it worth the risk if you have to brake fast?????

Think of your life and your family and the consequences :poke:

Food for thoughttt

I have one rotor and i have no issues, even with the added weight of the single sided 360 i have on the rear. Your limitations are still traction and one rotor will lock your front tire just the same if you snatch it. also a thing i dont think anyone has touched on is if you are one to use your rear to stop at all you now have more rubber on the ground, makes it harder to lock the rear so you will be able to use that more too.

go for it. alot of bikes only have 1 on the front. i have 1/2 dozen or so like that, and they stop just fine in normal riding conditions.

The statement of stoping faster with one rotor vs two rotors makes little sense. Brakes work on friction the result being generation of heat whether car or bike. dual rotars generate more friction less heat resulting in more braking force. whether unsafe for oneself or to others I guess up to the individual.

i went from 2 to one on my last bike but i upgraded to a wave rotor, steel brake line and good pads. it stopped great. lever had a nice feel and no pulling or any of the crazy stuff you hear/read. and i ran my bike pretty hard.
however, when i pulled the right front rotor off my latest bike i kept the stock rubber line, stock rotor and pads. level felt like mush and i didnt like the way stopping/slowing down felt. i decided to put the other rotor back on until i could get a steel line and wave rotor.
its only about a 30-60 minute job. pull it off and see how YOU like it or just get the wave rotor and steel line then no problems.
my experience

I don't know all that much about fat tire kits but I thought they went on the rear of the bike. What all the discussion about removing front rotors? Are you putting a fat tire on the front?

It's removed for rotating mass and looks! If I raced or had custom wheels, I would consider it!

Most kits are chromed. Hence, front and rear will be chromed.
