It was completely insane!! Blasting across the Bayside and Skyway BridgesWild rides for sure , man there would be some crazy HP right there in that pic !!
I humbly appreciate your passion about the Monsta. It really is some machine to pilot..Hard to put into words the combination of power and control. That Moto would be great for the exercise regime , probably kill me off too quick .... too much fun !!
Now ..... Monsta , say it isn't so !!!! Oh well bro , you have fessed up now , so clean slate , lets get that beast refreshed with vitamins and ride ready again !! Sure is my favorite Monsta in the whole damn world , when I first laid eyes on it , I was freakin , like I couldn't type quick enough how much it excited me reptile brain stem !! That bike is something special !!
Arch you 100% on OE suspension; it is fine if 175 or less. 190-210 on a push, dialed up with positive thoughts. Now above that 230 pound mark fairly useless the springs/forks are 2/3rds of the way compressed as soon as one sits on the bike. Just for kicks add in a bad fork seal & things get real interesting real quick. Out back cranking down that spring has it's limits & too much with a rise in road with some speed will try to catapult you or in my case resulted in an endo which I don't do & haven't done since; doing a hand stand at speed with all your weight unexpectedly on the palms is not cool !!!I think you normal sized people probably think us porky types are crazy but the OEM suspension/brakes on the Busa were scary. I have bounced out of the seat or really thought I wasn't going to get it stopped in time on many occasions. The one that really got me was in a lean getting bounced 3-4 feet off line. I'm sure I could have figured out a spring/oil setup to make the OEM front work for my weight, but I rode with the compression at 100% all the time. Guess it's not inexpensive being fat!
BTW: Speaking of fat, it's that time of year again for that delicious tasty treat at your local Mickey D's! Yes the McRib is back people! Yes, that's sauce on my leathers.....
Not MAD at you for either bike. Busa was $ well spent nothing wasted just by looking at the parts selected; the other is pure show off fun.
Well I've been messing around with the 14R a bit of late . The Ohlins forks are now all set up ready to be fitted . The exhaust , PC5 etc. has arrived so , that is now also ready . I scored a factory manual , so I could remove the fairings easily and do any other jobs on it . View attachment 1607035
Got new oil ready and filter , I have started an in depth clean on it , then I will change the oil and filter , and fit the exhaust , power commander , clutch kit . The BST's due this week , so I am looking forward to their arrival .
Woooooooo! My heart just skipped a beat. Awesome stuff Bro!
Be good to have you around for some help Wuzza , sometimes you need two people to get it done easier . Then we could go test it out , see how it goes and sounds , maybe a roll on race or two against the L2 . I should be okay though , I think the tank will be a little tricky , but going to know this bike a lot better after this install . Man , I'm having a lot of fun with both my Hypers .Wish I lived closer, that’d be a lot of fun to help out. I’m having a shop do my fork seals and the cost for them to install new rotors and pads and a tire while the forks are off is low enough that there’re also doing that.
Yeah , would be the best time to , but to find someone able to do a good job quickly is another thing that would be difficult , especially this late in year . I see where the solo seat and tail section is being scuffed and worn like @c10 warned me . I got some leading edge fairing wear on the L2 as well , a lot of it is insects , but then you find a chip or two from rocks etc. One day , the L2 will need a custom paint job , as well as the 14R , but it will keep for now .
