Russia and Ukraine

While I agree that Zelenskyy might keep a lower profile until an agreement is reached, Putin’s fear of NATO is worth discussing. He knows NATO is a defensive organization but he also knows if Ukraine joins, it would help spread a democratic philosophy in the region that is already robust, and that scares Putin.
Because of that, Ukraine’s future hangs in the balance if the agreement disallows them from joining. That is why this moment is so big for Zelenskyy and Ukraine. I trust that Trump understands the gravity, what I question is his true
Let’s see.

Ukraine’s GDP is around 174 Billion, a lot less than what the world has spent to keep it afloat. An endless experiment of humanitarian loss and costs. We may be seeing a light at the end of the tunnel, we may not should Zelenskyy’s wishes be pursued.

California’s GDP is slightly North of 4 Trillion. Almost twice the size of Canada’s.

With their staunch blue population, I think we should stop deporting immigrants, send them all to CA, and let them start a new independent country with a rainbow nation and their own President plus constitution.

Very similar to what happened to Ukraine with Western influence. Minus the illegal immigrants.

Not shocked that you go directly to the financial aspect of the situation but somewhat surprised about your lame a$$ sarcastic comment that has nothing to do with this conversation.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte confirmed that NATO Membership For Ukraine Off The Table, Hints At Future Normalization With Russia

Rutte in an interview Friday was asked by Bloomberg TV’s Annemarie Gordern if Trump has definitely removed the issue of Ukraine’s accession to NATO from the negotiating table. Rutte answered "yes" and nodded in the affirmative when pressed. The issue of NATO constantly expanding right up to Russia's borders, which especially ramped up in the mid-2000s during the Bush era, has been consistently identified by President Putin as a key motive in his ordering hundreds of thousands of Russian troops into Ukraine in February of 2022.

Russia sees this as a continuation of a war in Donbass that was already burning since 2014, which saw CIA and Western intelligence assist Kiev in seeking to push back Russian influence. But the reality has always been that natives on the Donbass are overwhelmingly Russian-speaking and pro-Moscow. Rutte’s predecessor Jens Stoltenberg made a bombshell admission in a televised 2023 speech stating that the bloc's refusal to stop expanding east as a key reason for why the Ukraine war started.

"President Putin declared in the autumn of 2021, and actually sent a draft treaty that they wanted NATO to sign, to promise no more NATO enlargement," Stoltenberg said at the time. "That was what he sent us. And [that] was a precondition for not invade [sic] Ukraine. Of course we didn’t sign that." Previous to those words, this was considered a 'pro-Kremlin talking point'. NATO chief Stoltenberg had even emphasized in the remarks that Putin "went to war to prevent NATO, more NATO, close to his borders."

But apparently no lessons have been learned, and mainstream Western media has still by and large failed to feature the Stoltenberg admission as part of the narrative on the build-up to war.

As always, everyone trusting their TV has been jerked off for 3 years :D

So Putin should be able to write world policy as it suits him, and shame on all the warmongers that question it?
Trump’s reply is anticipated more than the final episodes of Yellowstone.

Yep. All Biden had to do was say no to Ukraine joining NATO, and we could have avoided it all. Putin had been clear on this for as long as I can recall. We would have taken up arms against Mexico had they decided they wanted to put Chinese tanks and planes at our border.

Yeah, the world revolves around what Putin is clear about. Your take is eff Ukraine, let’s just worry about what we can avoid. Like ethics.

Why do I keep responding to TallTom? Excellent question. He seems averse to debating with anyone that doesn’t agree with him. That warrants consideration.

Don’t have a lame @ss, don’t ride a Tuono.

Guess the California comparison was an “if then” algorithm, you did not get.

You need more explanation?

Not from you. Your bias is overwhelmingly obvious.
Don’t knock the V4 Tuono until you ride one. If we ever ride twisties together don’t fret, I’ll pull over and wait for you.

Or it could just be that he has you on the ignore list and doesn't see your posts, that warrants consideration

I know he has me on his ignore list. That's why I asked the question in jest, Einstein. I choose not to use the ignore function so I read your posts, I just choose not to engage most of the time.

Naked sports bikes Suck! They are built for people who want to save money on repairs, people who have a habit of dropping their bikes.
Usually at coffee shops...
Not sure I would agree with that, but naked with no fairings and high hp is not a great market here in the USA.
I love the look of a Naked bike and enjoy them.

What did the ukraine think was going to happen when they invaded russian territory. Have they learnt nothing from history?

Probably not a great market here but for an older guy like me that’s not quite old enough to slow down, they’re perfect. Especially the Tuono. Anyone that enjoys railing curves should ride one at least once. Be careful, it’s like Lay’s potato chips :)

I love naked bikes, but willing to compromise in the performance department.

Been eying this one for a while, but really don't need it. Maybe, maybe.

Thinking of selling this one, below. Where I am, have to drive at lease 4 hours to get some decent off road. I ride it mostly on pavement when I ride with the Harley guys, so I don't fall asleep.

Ride a V4 Tuono with an Aprilia race map and Akrapovic exhaust, and compromise will the furthest thing from your mind. That’s assuming you meant to put a ‘not’ before willing. I owned a 1397 Busa at the same time and the Tuono feels just as fast. 1st pulls it up unless you lay on the tank. Truly impressive engine.

Now, do you think Putin is in earnest at all when he says he wants peace? I feel like he’s playing with Trump and Zelenskyy.

I’m not really into Italian bikes. Had a few Ducati’s with a lot of riding and a lot of wrenching. The Husky has been OK, but adjusting valves one has to strip that whole bike down to the frame to get to them.

Putin is as bad as it gets, I’m more interested in who has the skills to deal with that.

We do have liberals and conservatives and we are a multiple party country, we have Bloc Quebecois, New Democrat Party (NDP), the Green Party and independents...

I joined the military at 17 so never really followed any political party as it wasn't in my best interest to be politically aligned because I had to go do my duty regardless....I never voted once while in uniform....

Since retiring, I have found that I and many other military and first responders are more right aligned.....but are neutral right. I am neutral right with left sympathies as I care about people and their well-being so programs that fit that role are of interest to me.

I've seen enough death and misery for a few lifetimes to be honest.

I am relatively new in any political discussion so I fear that I am often clumsy and not well read.......I do know people though and I do know what leadership looks like and that to me gives me the confidence to speak on world leaders and how they relate to both their peers, enemies and citizens.....

So far I'm not impressed by the American administration....any positive accomplishes are surrounded by questionable decisions and ethics.......I definitely don't like threats made to my and other countries, nor do I like the direction the US is going as far as foreign polices and economy go.

I have a stake in this as my grand parents were born in the US and I have lots of relatives living there who discuss their lives with me quite often.....to top this off, I've spent a good deal of time there training with other special forces units and deploying with them shoulder to shoulders as brothers in arms.
Hi. You may have trained with my son in law George Pedro.
