It is amazing to watch the right covering the tracks of the Trump era failures. We all saw Trump himself say publicly and on video that he and Kim exchanged love letters. We watched him elevate Kim to the world stage as a world player, all while he continued to develop the very weapons he is firing now.
We watched Trump, again on video in real-time, deny military aid to Ukraine while Russia was attacking them. This was aid passed by congress that Trump did not even have the authority to stop. Yet he used the opportunity to try and gain political advantage over Biden while Ukrainians died in battle. We watched this happen in real-time.
We watched Trump openly reject US relations with our European allies and NATO members. We watched him weaken the relationships that have kept peace in the region and world for 60 years. The same relationships that allowed the US to become the most powerful nation in history both militarily and economically.
We watched Trump emerge from closed meetings with Putin like he was Putin's b@#@$ch. We got news of what was discussed in this meeting from the Russians, as Trump didn't even have staff support in the meeting (Putin did)!
All of the right-winged internet talking heads are yelling "are you going to believe me or your lying eyes?" There is a desperate effort to erase the obvious: While Trump is not solely to blame for all of this he is largely responsible. Have you noticed the Trumpian Rally by Putin? Or the fact that FOX news is being used by Russian state media to further their propaganda? Clearly, Putin made a big mistake going into Ukraine, he underestimated Zelenskyy's cunning and Biden's ability to project leadership in NATO. He's trying desperately to break the US resolve. Fox is doing their best to help Putin.
It is stupid to get into the war in Ukraine. Not only will that throw the world's economies into chaos it won't help Ukraine. If we enter the fight against Russia directly it will start with an all-out, gloves-off confrontation between superpowers and Ukraine will be the battlefield. There will be nothing left of the country or the citizens of Ukraine who stayed behind.
As awful as it sounds, Ukraine is on its own and Biden is showing disciplined leadership in dealing with this mess. The only real option at this point is pumping arms into Ukraine. Personally, I think now that Putin has been exposed as an idiot he will do anything necessary to subdue Ukraine. He is looking more and more unhinged every day. Soon we will have to look at stopping Putin at any cost.
