We have 2 Lab mixes, 12 and 11- I know the time is coming.. We had to put my last dog down at 16- very sorry to hear about your loss.

Michelle,
So sorry to hear this. I feel your pain, we had to let Shoo-Shoo (14 year old Lhasa Apso) go a couple of years ago. We run across pictures now and then and still brings a tear to my wife's eye. Be comforted that Scooby had a great life.

Kids are doing just fine...they weren't there when we put him down, but David, my 5 year old, wanted to know "how does he get up to the sky?" and Sam, my almost 7 year old was just sad and said he was going to miss him...today, life resumed as usual for the kids, so that's good...

It's just my cat and 6 fish

The vet bills will be smaller now...

That he did...had a great life...before kids, Maggie and Scooby WERE our kids.  We took 'em on vacations in the van we bought for them; nice comfy conversion van with seats that folded down, a built in cooler full of fresh H2O for the longer rides.  The times we just drove to PetSmart or to BK for a whopper.  They've slept in hotels with us and when we'd ask "is this a dog friendly place" and they'd say yes, then you'd see them gawk when we'd parade the two 150 lb Danes in to the elevators

I have hundreds of pics of them at the beach.  Spoiled rotten, but that's what dogs are for...to spoil

Thanks everyone...I know we've all been here and will be again...why can't they have longer lives?  It just kills me...and just once, I'd love for a pet of mine to pass away peacefully, but that never happens.  I recall putting Caesar, my St. Bernard, down when I was just 12 years old...every dog since has followed suit...no peaceful death in their sleep...it just stinks...

I have no regrets though; did what needed to be done to ease him from this life...he was stubborn despite his failing body, poor guy...

(Rayabusa0818 @ Aug. 29 2007,11:34) I'll be sad the rest of today...RIP Scooby

Don't be sad...I'm doing that for about 50 people right now

Rough today; I think I'm leaving even earlier than I'd initially planned...seems my contacts aren't enjoying the wet oasis that are my eyes

And my head hurts so bad, I can barely post, which is another tragedy...

Life is good...he had a good life and was well loved.

Someone sent this to me when I had to ease the pain of one of my dogs years ago... For some reason I kept it. Very sorry for your loss.

We have a secret, you and I
that no one else shall know,
for who but I can see you lie
each night in fire glow?
And who but I can reach my hand
before we go to bed
and feel the living warmth of you
and touch your silken head?
And only I walk woodland paths
and see ahead of me,
your small form racing with the wind
so young again, and free.
And only I can see you swim
in every brook I pass
and when I call, no one but I
can see the bending grass.

Sorry Michelle, that stuff hurts. Its going to kill me when its Mojos time....

it is tough and im glad the dog didnt suffer. some people hold onto their dogs for too long so they wont suffer themselves which is truly selfish. you did the right thing at the right time. ive had to do it myself and it hurts so i feel your pain. just stay strong and get another as soon as you're ready. nothing helps like a nice puppy running a muck around the house

sorry you are having to go through this

it's good to know he was loved throughout his life and you were able to make it easy on him in the end

RIP Scooby

So sorry Chelle. You can only do what your doing now, and remember the special things about your pal. Also, you may find some comfort in knowing you gave him unconditional love too. Those who have never had a dog may find it hard to relate to how we feel when we lose one. When your pets live with you, they become so aware of your feelings and moods it is hard to understand the bond. My dog pepper is looking at me now with sad eyes, no doubt wondering whats wrong with dad as I dry my eyes with tissue after reading your post. Hang in there, your org family is thinking about you and your family.

'Chelle, Sorry to hear about Scooby. I've had to make same decision in past as well.
Just know that Scooby has moved into a greener field with bigger trees, unlimited bones, and fire hydrants.

RIP Scooby.

He was a warm and cudly looking pooch, just make you wanna hug'em and pinch his big ole nose.

I don't think I'll be able to handle when the four of our begin their journey to the Golden  Dawg  house in the sky.

RIP Scooby
