Shinko tires for the Busa

shinko 009 = 107.00 usd. 190/50. how much for bt16?

The 009 isn't very comparable to the 16 but okie dokie. The 190/50 BT-016 is $158. I see you found the cheapest tire Shinko makes to compare it to the 16 lawlz! I'd say the 003 for $133 would be a little closer to apples to apples.

Actually, I was on bt 21 for the longevity. They last long time and grips good, but expensive. I'm all about long long time. I was just impressed with this cheap tire (009) that grips way better than bt21 with so much "advanced technology". Like I said, if this cheap tire (009) last 3000 plus miles, I'm a new believer of shinko. Did I say it grips?

I am still not sold on the 009... I have been running the 005's ever since the factory tire wore down.

The 005's last me 3k plus. The only other tire that I would swich to is the Dunlop Qualifier. My Friend has them, and I really like the Profile of the tire. Plus they are super sticky.

Just checked mine...i've got the 005's. best bang for the bucks IMHO. i have a 200 on the rear (which my buddy Snakeyes hates:moon:). In need of a set..sooooo
if you're reading this Big Snake, i just ordered the 009s (190Rear). See ya in two days :-)

Oh My!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is a thread about where the Rubber Meets the Road and I see so many who are to poor to afford an extra fifty bucks on tried, tested and proven tires but can easily afford a $40,000 helicopter ride!

Maybe it's time to petition our legislators to pass laws requiring stickers on the guage cluster of all two wheel machines "Engage Brain in Gear before MOUNTING"? ???

Look fellas, these two wheeled machines are inherently dangerous. You are 39 times more likely to die as a result of a motorcycle crash than a four wheeled vehicle. This year alone, more than 5,000 cyclist will perish on our highways and back roads. Why increase your odds of becoming a statistic trying to save a few bucks?

Here is the way I look at tires "It's better to have a better tire and not need it than to need a better tire and not have it"!

Remember, if you "THINK" before you act, your chances of living a long productive life increases dramaticly! :beerchug:

i used the 005 my first season, with no problems and several CHIRP wheelies...then I tried the 003 and liked them, then I went to the u-soft 003 and love them..these are the tires i used down at the busa bash, and I was fine all weekend until a certain gold wing stopped in front of me on a switchback, and left me with no where to go but the dirt...and I suppose any other tire would do the same thing while sliding sideways in the dirt...i learned that i don't have to drag kneee to keep up as they hook so well pulling out of the corners I jump way out ahead of the other bikes, then they catch me again in the corners...lol someday when Im rich I will get a full set of leathers, some knee pucks and some ct2's but untill then I stick with what I know

Following this logic, you would be riding super soft tires that last a few hundred miles, they have a bigger advantage.
We live in Il where the roads are straight and rough. The suspension is set to soft for extreme cornering, but i like to keep my kidneys working lol
Just out of curosity have you every tried these tires?

How many miles are you guys getting out of the 005's?

Jim, here are a couple of pictures of the 009's with about 800 miles on them. The tires don't have armor all on them, I wiped them off with a damp towel so you could see them better. The bike has been moved around the garage several times this weekend which leaves them with a dusty film on them. So far so good, my riding style is far from kneedragging though. Maybe when my abilities catch up with the tires then I might look at a softer tire but for now I'm very pleased. I sometimes put over 500 miles on the bike in a week so I need something that gets a little mileage.

You totally missed my point!

The point I was making is don't make your passionate sport any more life threatening than it already is over thirty bucks! Your tires are the only thing seperating you from disaster. Look on the sidewall, it says "Made in Korea"!

I have a set on my R1 that a friend suggested I get...huge mistake. For going straight, they are great, for cornering get real tires...Corsa's or something

Tires made in Korea going on a motorcycle made in Japan, hmmmm:poke:

That is why I'm asking questions about the tires. There was a big recall on front tires from Michelin on the Pilot Power that where made in france. Look at the big bridgestone tire problem on the ford explorers that where made in america.

I will ask what tire do you recommend and if i can get two sets for a little more i will try them

Thanks everyone for pics:beerchug:
