Should guns be banned?

Here's a solution. Make every bullet cost $100.00. I think Chris Rock suggested that during one of his standup routines. That way everyone would buy just one or two for home protection and only use them when really necessary. One of the solutions suggested by some is to tax ammunition heavily for private citizens. The constitution says the right to keep and bear arms. Not cheap ammunition. Just thrrowing some stones in the pond.

This country makes enough money taxing the number one killer in America.. Cigarettes..

No reason to throw insults around just because I don't have the same opinion as the majority here.

I for one, appreciate alternate opinions being voiced as they help me refine my postion on a topic and think through the reasoning behind it.

One of my favorite sayings:

"If two people agree on everything, one of them is useless."

I may disagree with your opinion, but I am grateful for the opportunity to discuss it with you regardless of the fact that neither of us is likely to sway the other very far.

Just like the high cost of Ferraris prevents their theft, but law abiding citizens all own one

BTW, what happens when only the rich can afford ammo? Or you can afford 1 bullet and 2 guys kick down your door (happened in my neighborhood last year, made the news, 4 suspects killed an elderly couple in a home invasion around the block)? How about the guys who make their own? Gunna ban wheel weights too, or just charge $100 per wheel weight?

Uhh...reloads...will you buy mine at $100 a pop?

Everybody wants an easy, feel good fix, but there isn't one.

I dunno about you, but at $100 a round I could make about $1,000,000 per day making ammo and I just have 2 single stages

On that note, with all these asinine tax proposals which won't fix anything, we might as well just say f'it and Zimbabwe this b!tch :moon:

So If the shooter is planning on dying anyway, what does a gun free zone matter?

All speculation on the shooter aside, if YOU were personally planning on killing multiple people, would you really not consider areas where you knew you could attack unimpeded? Come on. :banghead:

Gun free zones make for some of the best soft targets.

You never answered my question though.. What is an "assault rifle" and I'll add why are they more dangerous than a hunting rifle?

I don't know what an assault weapon is Gbot. I think it is a weapon that would be used on a battle field and has no real use otherwise except to pretend or prepare to be on a battle field. I didn't go into that because the definition of an assault rifle is the next debate after the armory one. EDIT: I my mind an assault gun can kill on an industrial scale, that's what makes it a bigger menace to society.

Willie your speculating now, I shoot my guns for fun not always to kill things.. It's just fun to see who can shoot a bullet from 200 yards and get it into the smallest grouping possible..

cap ..

That would fall under practicing killing them ........:poke:

So would that be those evil police issue glocks which you can buy 33rnd mags and 100rnd drums for? How about those Mini-14 ranch rifles that take M16 mags (5-100rnd capacity) or is that just AR-15's cause they function the same as a Mini-14 but they have a pistol grip and "look scary, like something a soldier would use!!!1!1one!" ???

ETA: how about those Remington 700's, you know they were made in the 1940's as a hunting rifle, then the marines adopted them for their snipers, and re-designated them the M40 SNIPER RIFLE!!!1! so are those evil too? They hold five rounds and can kill from 3/4 of a mile!!!1!!!1!

What you don't get is it isn't the machine, it is the intent of the operator. A smart car or a busa going 60mph will kill a pedestrian just as dead as a 10,000 lb truck will at 60mph.

Most military arms designed to "kill on an industrial scale" what ever the flying f that means, are derived from hunting arms.

Every soldier on a battle field carry's a bayonet too, every combat arms vet has been trained in the use of killing with a Bayonet, hell one of my divisions was nick named the Bayonet division (7th ID) and really really emphasized training and skilled use of the Bayonet in combat. There has to be about 10 million of us in the country trained in these things, maybe we should ban knives and sharp instruments or we could just lock all of us up somewhere so the sheeple feel a bit safer.

Exactly! And I take my bike to track days to practice running from the police. I also split firewood to practice axe murdering. :poke:

Is it that difficult to believe that people shoot targets simply because they enjoy... shooting targets

I didn't say the guns were evil, you did. If you have a dog that's dangerous, you have to treat them that way. I'm just saying.........

It's not at all and it really seems like fun. But if you are saying the only reason you have guns is because it's fun then those kids death is not worth that. I know you weren't saying that, but maybe the gun types have to give a little in the interest of not having this happen so much.
