Most who know me well know I've had my eye on a Concours for about 2 years. I put hardbags on the Busa in an effort to make the Busa work for something it just wasn't going to work for me for. A few Connies came up about 3 weeks ago for a decent price. I put the Busa on here for sale for a one week only, if it sells, it sells sale, and low and behold it sold. The new owner is an org member, but I'll let him tell you when he's good and ready who he is.

Last night I rode the C14 home in temps around 35 degrees and still had a big grin on my face when I got home. I think we may have a winner for my riding style.

I'll still clearly be around here since none of you pansies ever stick up to Vabs and we can't have her taking this place over.

Today was bittersweet, got to pull both bikes out and compare them side by side, there's actually quite a few similarities.

Then shortly after, the truck came for the Busa. I was legitimately sad to see it go. Hands down the best bike I've owned to date. I'm sure I'll pick up another one some day as a second bike. Having a toddler doesn't warrant that at this time in my life.

Here's a couple pics, 2009 C14 non-ABS, super clean (just my style) I'll be updating you all with ride reports, etc. One thing is for sure right off the bat....

Suzuki is missing out on this share of the market.

Congrats on the new to you bike.

I also have been looking at the Connies for some time.
The one thing that has held me back is NO CRUISE control.
Yes, some might think that's a small item to keep me from buying one but I feel
that any sport touring bike should have cruise from the factory. That's just me.

Will be looking forward to your reports on how they compare to the Busa.
I'll bet that you will be very pleased in many ways especially if you didn't use
all the power that a Busa gives on every ride. I know I don't. The more upright position can't hurt anything.
No more chain to clean and oil.

Enjoy it and report back often.

If you ever get the itch to ride over near Grand Rapids MI let me know and I will meet you.

BTW did your Busa sell in one week? and you kept it a secret?
Any idea how many miles away the new owner of your Busa is? Just curious as it's getting shipped vs him coming to get it, right?

Here was my first "ride report" I posted on Facebook..

First real ride impressions on the Concours.
1. Someone from Suzuki needs to build one of these with the busa motor.
2. HOLY HEADLIGHTS BATMAN! These things light up the road better than the HID light on the Busa plus they're adjustable while you ride.
3. 35 degrees for an hour and 20 minutes and I'm not really that cold. If I had grip heaters or better gloves I'd still be out there.
4. Mirrors. First street bike I've ever ridden that has usable mirrors. Weird that they are so low, but nice to not have to tuck my elbows in to see.
5. Did I mention the headlights?
6. Power windshield is cool, made it really nice with the cold.
7. I miss my throttlemeister. I need to get it mounted up asap.
8. Those headlights tho....

The Busa wasn't a GSXR either.

You have to ride it right to feel the GSXR in it. :poke:

I think if you try to make a Connie out of a Busa the Connie will always be a better bike. I think the Connie is easily the best value in a long touring bike out there and it's not too shabby on a twisty road. Enjoy.

Well if that's from just one ride and you were cold (35° with a windshield is still cold) so I can hardly wait
to hear what you have to say about it after some warm/hot rides.

Like I said I'm pretty sure you will be very pleased.

And again it boggles my mind why manufactures don't add cruise to but a handful of bikes.
Maybe the people in power to make that decision don't ride so they don't think about it or realize what a benefit it might be.

Or a liability.

Cruise doesn't bother me one way or the other. The Throttlemeister works well enough for me to rest my hand.

Nice thing about a cruise is it really stops the tickets. It's also better on twisties, especially in hills as it can keep a constant speed. When I was using the Throttlemeister I would look down and I was going 90 or it would slow to a crawl on a hill and I would have to adjust it. I think I'm with RedBusarider on this one, don't get a touring bike without cruise.

Hrmmm, odd, I wonder now why you chose the name? And why is there a GSX1300R on the tail of my Busa...

So, this photo you sent me last night, that's NOT the real Kawi? I'm so confused Bots. I think another member here who shall rename nameless at this time to protect him from your wrath said it best though - your new screen name should probably be GeezerBots. It's got a certain flow, a certain, how to you say, well, honesty about it. Now you've got the bike to match the ailing hip, the bum back, the apparent failing eyesight (my gosh could you go on about the headlights anymore?!)

For $200 I won't change your screen name, OR, in a few days, since you now are yet another Kawi owner on Hayabusa.oRg site, I welcome you to the role of moderator  Fetch Charlie a Sierra Mist, Omar likes cheerleader beer, Shawn hits the hard stuff and he is not cheap, Flicka (where's he been anyway?), he might want some sweet tea, semi just wants to be loved and as too many know, I can't have my moves like Jaeger without the Jaeger. Get crackin' boy!

Oh, and congrats on selling out...happy for ya, sort of...damn that hurts to say. Wait, I feel kind of......sick....it's green, Kawi green...ewwwwww...........I do not remember eating that... :puke:

I'm one of those guys that likes to keep some resemblance of motorcycle riding when I ride. I don't want the huge windshield to take my wind away, I don't want cruise control, self cancelling signals, etc. I want to still act like I ride the thing. Many people want cruise, etc. I still like to feel like I'm in control..

I eat moonpies so fast, I don't even notice taking my hand off the throttle.

If you have Cruise Control on your bike there is no law saying you have to use it.

When I'm on the highway and going 20 miles or more with no stops in between then I want to be able
to remove my right hand like I can my left hand at anytime I want to. Carpale tunnel is pretty common and cruise will help with that.

Heck if the manufactures put a separate fuse in for the cruise and you didn't want it to ever work because you wanted to "act" like you ride the thing,
then all you would have to do is pull the fuse and problem solved.

Well since your new bike doesn't have cruise I guess you have nothing to worry about.

I can take my hand off the throttle any time I want. Throttlemeister works perfect for that.

I'm not going to say you don't need it, I'm simply stating I don't.

We've had a member here crash because his cruise didn't turn off. Cruise/ABS/Traction control is all stuff that is not a selling point for me in a motorcycle. Call me old fashioned. Or just plain old.

All I got from this thread was......

"I just traded my Busa for a great set of headlights"

Which isn't a bad thing if the "Great Headlights" come attached to something that cooks, cleans, changes your oil and doesn't talk too much.

Rubb.

I doubt that he can accurately chuck a moonpie all the way to Nebraska! Yup, this bike got Geezerbots one step closer to a Geezer Glide! :hide:
