Let's not mistake these two words "prejudice" & "racist". They are very different.
Prejudice means to pre-judge, based on a variety of visual or auditory attributes. I'm guilty of "prejudice" towards any people, but it's hard not looking at someone and kind of predicting their personality.
Racism is outright hate/dislike for someone specifically because of the color of their skin or culture. It doesn't matter to a racist whether I'm an educated African American male treating their mother who recently had a stroke. All that matters is I'm black, while my white counterpart may have cheated through school and doesn't know the patient's anatomy from his own LOL. My point is some patients are completely uncomfortable with my touching them because of my heritage. Others prejudge me (believe me I can tell), but after a brief conversation I usually get them laughing and they're puddy in my hands then
Anyway just wanted to clarify. I see where this thread is headed.
