Skin Color under the Helmet

quote=BigDawg_03Busa,May 30 2005,04:06
Who said you owe anyone anything. This country owe me and every citizen the same rights and respect, but do we get it (&*% NO!!! I don't want anything handed to me though, I'll do what I've always done work towards it and TAKE it and prove society WRONG!!!!

You're right "you" don't owe anyone anything!
Really??, then explain special minority scholarships and grants provided by the government. Or how about specialized minority based student loans? I bet a KKK scholarship for white students wouldn't be allowed in a state funded school because that would be "racist" and "discriminatory" and there is absolutly no difference. How about we just do away with Affirmative action, race percentages and federal and state funded special interest groups and see how life goes on.
The only reason there is anything set aside for minorities is because majorities (historically speaking right) would allow minorities ANYTHING. Duh, don't play dumb you know the history of this country and why there are the organizations that exist today.

Yes some minorities piggy back and play the race card. I hate that, I feel like if you earned it you should be entitled to it. If you're the best for the job, you should get it. Again the only reason quotas were developed was because some companies wouldn't hire any minorities. Again it came about to protect, otherwise many current opportunities would not exist!
You speak of history and I speak of today. Live life for the now. Quit crying about what people were denied in the past. You said yourself you are owed NOTHING.

naacp is an organization.... if they wanted, they could make devil worship a requirement too.
yeah man and so is the KKK. Still doesn't make it right and I have a real problem with my tax money being used and/or spent on allowing such rallies etc to occur. And we won't even begin to discuss hidden or political donations to the NAACP. We are a nation as a whole. My nation's cash should ONLY be spent on orginations that equally allow all citizens.
And you think all other organizations "equally allow all citizens"

Man I don't think you will ever understand unless you wear black skin. Yeah slavery is over, yeah we have more opportunity today than years ago.

Be white and dress in old school biker fashion and they'll act the same way.
You really think that? You think being white and dressing in biker gear is the same as being black dressed in jeans (that don't ride up my rear end) and boots.

Our history has never pointed to harley riders being beaten, killed and discriminated against.
Once again HISTORY. Speak of today.

btw if whites in general treat other races so bad PLEASE explain the high number of inter-racial marriages and couples present in the USA in the last 10 years. I know, we won't give ya our jobs but hey TAKE OUR WOMEN. Something just ain't adding up when I go to a club and see 20 white girls, 18 of which are with black guys.
Then maybe you should tear down some of those color barriers and find you a thick soul sista or latina mommy and get your groove on LOL.

I see alot of interracial relationships too, more in the south than ever. I like it because I'd rather see a woman of color with a caucasian brother who is treating her like a queen. Again the more I grow in Christ, the less color I see. I love the guys I ride with and I know them by the bike they ride. Ex if someone laid their baby down, I don't say the white guy who works at sonic, I'd say the guy with the red & black F4i (also if he's on a Honda I could say the guy always in last place LOL) and everyone knows whom I'm speaking about.

How people choose to treat you isn't my point. Be white and dress in old school biker fashion and they'll act the same way.

Cant change the color of your skin so easily, lQQk how long it took Mikey

[/QUOTE]
LOL, poor Mikey when will he learn?

Yeah can't change to color (I wouldn't if I could), but you can take off those leathers and put on a shirt & tie, yep good point.

You speak of today's laws/organizations which were started during the history as you put it of "Your grandfathers", but I can't refer to the same history to validate a point?

P.S. I'm not crying, I'm getting mine! Maybe you should lay down some of your prejudices and see the world is changing around you! If someone doesn't know where they've come from, how can they know where they're going? So I will continue to point out "HISTORY". Carry on!

To everyone who has posted here; watch small children of all races play together and then its easy to see that racism is a learned thing, overtime. those children dont even see the differance, a girl i grew up with started dateing a black man lost all her friends and family (except me) we gotta start somewhere sometime why not right now?

Yep as always, i speak the truth and right away I have "racial barriers". Sorry man, that excuse ain't gonna work on me.

This is one of your quote and you say you have no racial barriers, why the use of the word "OUR". Our jobs, Our women. First of all those jobs are funded by "our" (meaning every american's money) and those women were created by God and are entitled to date or marry whomever they please. This obviously has upset you and I'm sorry, sorry your still living in the very past or "history" you want to avoid. That was my point.

You're right, it is soooo sweet to watch a playground of kids so innocent completely unconcerned about the differences in color. It isn't until they're poisoned by adults that this mess starts to develop (I'm talking children of all ethnic backgrounds too).

I don't know the exact verbiage, but "Those that don't remember their histories are doomed to repeat the mistakes of it".

It's easy for those to not suffer the fallacy of the past to say, "Let's forget about it, the past is past.". I don't believe in crying over spilled milk, but that milk is still being spilled today. Discrimination is still going on.

Exactly ! For example //////911

hmmm....since we're thinking one group has it better than the other group, if there's a trade right now.....

trade scenerio:

have all the euro americans endure what the 'minority' americans endured through out the american history and let them have all the things that most of the minorities have now i.e., tax free indian reservation, affimative action, naacp assistance, scholarships, grants, an offical apology from the government of the u.s. because it mistreated some americans, less pay and promotions on the average, being told to go back to where you came from even though he/she is born here, being label with their own racial slurs, etc.,

and then let all the minority americans have all the euro americans' things like the lands that were stolen from the native americans, virtually all the power spots in washington d.c., all the subur neighborhoods that don't allow minorities, being protest against because he/she is unfair or hate others based on their color skins, not being allow certain scholarships and grants, being label with their own racial slurs etc.,

and see which group would want to do the trade.

it's just a hunch but i can see most of the minority americans trading for the euro americans' things but only a few of the euro americans willing to do the trade.

i hang out with people in quite a few different back grounds(mainly whites, mexicans, filipinos, chinese and blacks) and i think ALL racial slurs are equally bad but i think it effects the group(s) that has a deeper history of being mistreated more. at least that's been my observation when i see/hear the reactions towards racial slurs.

You can never forget your history. It's nonsense to say "speak of today". History is a very important part of who you are, etc. If you don't know your history or choose to forget your history then, today, how will you know where you are going? The simple fact is that we WANT to believe that we have made a lot of progress as a people but the simple fact is that we have a ways to go. As I stated before, it's easy for someone to say "speak of today" when you have not walked in my shoes. If you have never experienced racism, racial profiling, etc. then how can you speak about it? I am not trying to be negative, however, I just want people to be aware that we have a long rode ahead of us to truly end racism.

Yep as always, i speak the truth and right away I have "racial barriers". Sorry man, that excuse ain't gonna work on me.

You're the one stating its "you" versus "us". I'm tired of arguing. I of course was being sarcastic to prove a point. Not all whites hate blacks, period.

Man, please explain the discrimination you have endured within your life you can actually prove? I know, you didn't win the lottery and become a millionare because of your skin color right?

Let's hear it boys, what have you all been denied. Who has treated you so badly?
Why are you even injecting the word "denied" in this subject. I don't believe anyone of us expects a "free hand out" based the tone of our skin, the slant of our eyes, or the kink (or lack of) in our hair. White, Black, Yellow, Red, Brown, or what have you.

Is that really what you think, dude? That whenever there's a racial discrimination that the victims are expecting a "free hand out" in restitute? I worked hard for what I have, which is not as much as others, but which should be more than others too. Just like anyone should. So don't belittle this subject into a matter of "free hand outs".

Didn't read some of my earlier post on either page 2 or 3 about my last visit to the Bike Show in Long Beach CA? Granted, being Asian, I may not have to personally endure as much "financially impacting" discrimination or as much "criminally accusation" discrimination as the black guy or the Mexican guy so I can't speak on that respect. But what do you think about mockery? Or the sneering comments? Especially during the younger years?

How can you ever experience it yourself? So how can you speak to that front? All you can assume is that all the minorities are lined up for "free hand outs"
rock.gif

Hollywood has done plenty of damages, as someone already pointed out. But there are a few good movies that may help put it in a slightly different light. Of coarse this is no substitue for experience, but talk a look at:

Hollywood Shuffle: mockery of actual stereotypical roles that the black actors have to play to make it in show business.

Malibu's Most Wanted: for fun. But notice the slight role reversal of the two well spoken Shakespearean black actor paid to play thugs.

American X: A movie about the making and unmaking of a racist? Notice when they attacked the local Korean owned supermarket. Minor part, but what does that say about your theory of "free hand outs"?

Dragon: Who doesn't know Bruce Lee? But who really knew how he came to be, what he had to struggle through to make it? You thought he was a instant sensation here in the US? Didn't you think he had tried here first but hit the stereotypical brink wall?

And to really flip the pancake: WHITE MAN'S BURDEN: Great movie, thought provoking too. Someone asked that question about trading places. What if??? Well, this movie did it. Well known actors, well written script and dialoge. Wonder why it never did so well?

Yep as always, i speak the truth and right away I have "racial barriers". Sorry man, that excuse ain't gonna work on me.

You say you were being sarcastic, ironically I've heard that comment before (I'm not saying this is you) from bigget racists who hate seeing they're "white" women crossing the fence. In fact many white women face exile if they develop a relationship with a man of African-American decent.

As for Me against you, it has been that way for me personally and that's all I can speak about. I can't talk about Jesse Jackson's discrimination which I didn't experience, only mine personally.

Now does racism exist today, yep if you're living with opened eyes. I however am not going to loose sleep over it, because the bible tells me to pray for my enemies and pray for those who spitefully use me, because they don't realize the game they're playing. This is serious, it's not about white and black as we always make it, ultimately it will be about your relationship with God!

black slave masters of the south how about them they knew how to work their own YES blacks were better at slavery than whites were, they knew how to make slaves work.
That's called "divide and conquer" it worked then and it's working now.

I do agree with you about the Native Americans however, it's not about black and white as we sometimes try to make it (myself included at times). Still trying to wander how a man, named something Columbus" can find a country already inhabited. Oh well, something else for the "history" books.
