So after getting a feel for the Gen 3..

I’m 5’8 I feel like I need the 1 inch risers on the bars and vortex rear sets so I can lower them some to make it actually comfortable for me lol. If I don’t do that I don’t think I can enjoy riding it very long. I did sit on the 2025 Zx-14R as well and I could tell it did feel a bit better stock to stock but .. I just don’t like that bike lol. It’s not the busa and I’m refusing to settle.

How many miles have you done ?

Personally I wouldn’t rush into changing anything untill you have stacked up some miles and are familiar with it.

I have 4 naked bikes with higher bars and so did my previous H2 SX SE, I bought my Gen-3 knowing I could change it to suit, but I have a rule I always clock up some mileage first. I’m actually quite pleased and with its nicer bars than my Gen-2 and its cruise control I’m easily putting in longer days.

A couple of thousand miles it it just started to feel normal to me.

I was 42 when I rode my first sport bike and it was not comfortable but it was too cool to give up. Year two of ownership, my hamstrings and neck were acclimated. I own the Gen1 and Gen2 ZX-14 and the Gen2 Hayabusa. I don't recognize a great deal of difference, none of them are comfortable! They go fast and I can ride them and that's what I want. When I can't ride them anymore, I'll keep them and look at them.

I’m not anti-changing things.

I’ve done it heaps of times, bars, screens, tyre sizes, suspension and much much more.

What I do see is a lot of folk trying to “fix” stuff just because they just aren’t used to it.

I’ve been riding them half of my life, but I guess I’m just trying to plan for the long run. After 10 years in the Army light Infantry and a couple tours in Iraq my knees and back don’t like too much stress lol (not to mention being shot and blown up lol).

What Tony said. I bought mine sight unseen in SoCal and flew down to get it. My ‘test’ ride was the 400 or so Smiles I put on it riding back to San Jose via the coast hiway. Anything less is not very long to get acquainted with it.
I get it, it could be a number of things I guess. Not normally being in that position much these days, just getting older and my body resisting some lol but it wasn’t terrible.

Well in the past 8 years not much , prior to I rode almost every day. My last bike was a 2013 BMW S1000RR. It’s been a while though since I kind of put my body in that position for an extended time.

I've heard the S1000RR is the most comfortable of the liter bikes.....and the Hayabusa is more comfortable than one of those (the previous owner of my bike went to an S1000RR-just for the performance).

Like you mentioned, it's been a while since you've ridden a sport bike but in all honesty, you know what you want and a set of drop pegs and bar risers could be the necessary evil you seek......I have them on my bike and although the change is slight, it makes a difference.

If these changes gets you back on a bike.....it's an inexpensive investment in my books.....

Thank you ! That’s what I was thinking.

100% agree it’s just that you aren’t used to it. Give it a day of riding and you won’t need to change a thing. When I first got my busa I felt so uncomfortable, now I’d rather be cruising on it than sitting on a couch.

The first couple of rides on my 2023 where uncomfortable, especially my neck from the leaning forward riding position along with the palms of my hands. After the third ride or so my neck no longer bothered me because my body got use to the riding position and I added grip puppies to the handlebar grips which helped with my my hands getting sore. I did buy the Helibar riser because I want a more upright riding position but could live without it if I had to. I suggest getting a few hundred miles of riding in on your new Busa so your body can adjust to the riding position before making any changes.

I'm kind of in the same boat, rode liter bikes (and many other types) for years and beat my body up at work....

I have arthritis in both hands which limits my riding but every time I go to ride the route home, I find myself sucking up the pain and taking the long way because other than my hands the bike is so comfortable....

....I think you will find this as well.

I’m hoping lol. I guess I’ll find out either way because I plan on picking one up anyways lol

Yes, but the pipes, the pipes :D
I normally keep one bike as a “turn key”.
A bike just to ride with minimal mods. Something I don’t spanner, don’t get tuned, something quiet and 100% legal. I may change the pipes on my Gen-3 but for the role it currently has I’d gain nothing.
If I change pipes it’ll probably be the same day as the cams, stacks and mapping etc as a package.
The more I mod my other bikes the more reason I have not to mod my Gen-3.

Some days I jump on my Gen-3 and it feels like a bike comfy armchair.

I can’t think why….
