He won't get covered by SGLI at all. He wasn't wearing a helmet and he didn't have the riders Safety Course, Both are required by the Army and SGLI. I've seen it happen before. I feel really bad for the family. RIP Soldier.
That sux. Back when I was in (23 years ago) it did not matter. It was life insurance and all they cared about was the fact that you were DEAD.

Yeah some life insurance companies put so many loopholes in their coverage you practically have to die on a specific day and be wearing a certain outfit before you can make your claim.
I'm on the Federal employees group life insurance (fegli) and hell they even pay out if I kill myself (but they do state that in doing so I do not qualify for the accidental death bonus). LOL.
If he's been paying his dues..They should honor his claim...Especially if he was not at fault it is still an accident.
