OK brain trust….(#Scrubs4Life)

Need someone to make a digital speedo that sits right here. Make it black that matches the contour of the pocket riiiight up there.
Def backlit.
I’d be ok drilling a hole to run the wire at the base of windscreen.

Pretty please…..

Almost need to pester Suzuki to drop a software update that allows speed on the dash...lean angle is great and all but- meh.

Totally agree. I'd much rather speed than lean angle there. I never had an issue with the gen1/2 not having one, but for some reason on this bike I find myself constantly looking at the TFT for the speed. I assume just because I drive a some what newer vehicle than I have in the past with old 'busas.

I swear I change gears to the next shiny thing. I need to get PETG to print for the helmet hook OR start tearing my bike down... But now I want to start a new project with this, lol. I have been looking around for a small GPS-enabled LCD speedo, is backlit and that works on 12v.

I think he's after something more permanent, at least until @smithabusa figures out the LCD speedo. :)

I would prefer the OEM look, but not opposed to something small and aftermarket to go in this area. Found these random universal items. The last one is interesting, or at a minimum looks less old school.

EDIT: One more

If you can get one that reads obd2 from the diagnostic red connector. It will display rear wheel speed, but only up to 158 mph. Front wheel speed is what controls the speedo on dash, but that doesnt seem to be on the obd2 stream of data.

Mount your phone up there with a gps app :)

Or a radar detector with GPS. My escort does.

Liking the OBD route, still hoping to see someone make a unit for this space thou.

The GPS app wouldnt be bad, but you'd lose the speed function with navigation. Plus I dont want to dock the phone every time, when i dont need GPS.

Technically the bike already has this function guys!

Use the “Active Speed Limiter Indicator” and whatever you have your cruise set to is what is displayed. So if you want your speed to display 65mph, set the active limiter to 65.

Now it won’t give you live/instant speed but it will display and hold whatever you have it set to if you’re worried about going over a certain speed.

What if we had a single gauge pod (typ 2-1/16") for that area? Thinking it could do double duty.... Use a cheap digital speedometer there for now and when we are able to display our speed it natively on the TFT you can put something else.

Or get something like the AeroForce Interceptor or maybe Banks up front, it should be able to display alot thru the OBD2

My Ram truck has a digital speed function that I can set on the TFT between the tack and speedo...I rarely look at my speedo anymore...then I get on my bike and the sweeping needle on the speedo is foreign.....it's crazy how we get used to something.

I'm kind of surprised Suzuki didn't make the speedo digital-they could have left the gauge round and put other readouts in it along with the speedo...

It's so funny as a former track junkie we never look at speedo and often cover it with tape!! But this bike is so smooth and deceptively fast there has been multiple times I feel like I'm doing 65 only to look down and see I'm doing 85-90!!! Can we get a heads up display!!!

@smithabusa

This is your guy, if anyone ...
...and make it with an LED rpm indicator with shift light.

There are small rectangular digital speedos about half the size of a stick of gum. Use Sculpy modeling compound to make the arch shaped front plate and stick the speedo in there. If someone lends me their Gen3, I'll make it! It could stick on with velcro. There might already be a water drain hole that could be used to rout the wire.

It probably would not be a huge amount of work for smithbusa to make a digital dash since he's already done that for the Gen2. I like the look of the analogue gauges though and I sure wouldn't want to loose the lean angle indicator.

If anyone gets bored, start thinking of terms to search and see we can find something with onboard GPS, small form factor, and a large digital & backlit display. I am kind of fond of this one and keep going back to it. It'll be able to display the speed, but also has the ability to plug into the OBD2 and you would have access to other readings, clear codes, etc.

As far as a housing for it to fit our bike's dash... When my 3D scanner comes in, I plan scan it in and model an enclosure that "should" look like it belongs on our bike.

EDIT: Actually may be easier and look decent to create a mount for our dash that follows it's contours, but leaves a flat spot on top to mount this LCD with it's enclosure?.
