the last thing i wanna be is a buzz kill or a killjoy but this needs to be discussed-
i play at the dragon alot, and its every bit as cool as you could ever imagine. Be sure to try the dragon burger as it is killer and spend a few minutes at the overhang--good times for sure-
here comes the buzz kill--i watched a 50ish year old man die about 4 foot in front of my front tire--speed was less than 35 mph when he crashed--i can still hear his last groan--turle shell helmets blow-
9 out of 10 visits im told of a wreck that happend that day--some are minnor crashes that donates a part to the tree of shame, some get a spendy helicopter ride. I once saw 2 crashes with in 5 minutes of each other-one just before the over hang and the other right after it--two dude in ditches hatin' life at the same time--
The problem is soo many people ride there now that its just too crowded--then you got your "speed racers/crowd pleasers" makin things worse
sad.gif

I was gulity of playin "speed racer" and paid the price--can you say target fixation--i could have made the turn, but i wasnt looking where i should have--lesson learned.
Another factor special to us is , well, the busa isnt the most flickable bike  and it makes speed in a hurry-not a good combo on a super twisty road.
Its a good idea to ride the white line NOT the yellow--lots of morans cross into your lane. Watch your elbow on left turns,i see alot of that in my lane too--
Point is -ride your own ride with a bit of extra caution-i dont wanna see any of my org buddies donating any parts to the tree of shame or worse.
good times at the end of april--cant wait!!!

Beings it will be our (TKM & myself) first time there, I plan to ride like a tourist enjoying the sights~ Not looking to drag knees, just enjoy some good times with my fellow Busa brothers and sisters~ Definitly not looking to kick the Dragons perverbial arse on my first trip out there... maybe the second trip though...

I am with you as well GJoker. I will have my wife riding with me and I have never been to the gap before. I am just going to enjoy the ride and try to help my wife do the same. Good on you lot boy, gets people thinking about what can happen if you are not careful.

well said. hopefully everyone will make good decisions and ride within their limits. I will also be the tourist type rider.

yep, good advice for sure. If everyone just checks their egos and excess testosterone (or estrogen

) at the door and rides their own ride, you should be just fine. The roads are generally no more technically challenging than any you will find in most of the east coast, except the dragon itself. Thats a technically challenging road that you'll probably be a little tired after you ride it. Its good to hang out at the overlook for a variety of reasons, but to rest a little is a good one

I think its going to be a great event

i remember the first time i rode the dragon...ialmost wiped out cause i had to keep up with those super motards...man they r quick.

The Dragon is an awesome road to ride on. I have been there several times on different bikes(superhawk, vmax, magna). i have done it solo and with my wife on the back. Seen a guy wreck right in front of us, got off to help him out(he was ok). you must take this road at your own speed or it will be dangerous. It is also a blast, as for most of the roads in the area. So enjoy and take it easy. See you all in april....

Good point lot boy We had a fellow spring basher get one of those rides in a copter 2yrs ago. He went straight when he should have gone left at the top of the straight in front of the hotel. Ended up fine but #### happens fast if your pushin it at the gap.

Also great point bout not riding the yellow line around blind corners. My friend robin died on the cherahola when a cage came around a corner half in her lane!

I've seen too many photos of cages at the dragon taking both lanes. What's up with that?

good advice for sure. If everyone just checks their egos .... hopefully everyone will make good decisions and ride within their limits.not a good place to push your limits.. a men what no limits as has a hard lesson to learn !!!

Heck, Im riding for the scenery, and to hang out and meet the members from this board. Got nothing to prove to anyone, so I will be the slow and in control guy in the back of the pack. I rather ride the back roads with a few mellow riders and enjoy the ride, than hit the Dragon with 100+ people all stagered like domino's. Hopefuly I can get on the Dragon early or late enough so there isn't much conjestion, but if it's a complete squid fest Im gonna hunt for some back roads.

I agree with most of what you say bro.....the most important is ride your ride and don't worry about the rest. As for as the yellow line is concerned I know you have to be careful with traffic coming the other way. But riding the white line can be just as dangerous.....you may tend to forget there is alot of pebbles from the side of the road or sand if you want to call it that, that gathers there and can make your tires loose......I can't say enough about safety, most of all dont push your skills and ride your game, play it safe cause when the Dragon bites it usually bites hard with very little prejudice...

Being local I know several places to take groups of riders that are really nice and enjoying......Guide Tour For Hire.............lol Oh and remember the law will be there in full force during the Bash done already got a heads up on that by a local officer....so again safety is number one...

I with you Valium, just wanna enjoy the scenery, meet boardmembers, and see lots and lots of BUSA's!!
