I had sucsess with the plastic seringe (sp?). It took me 10min with the help of a buddy (I need a vise bad)and all the air was out. But I only put in 10w40 cause I wanted to try it with a thiner oil first. Here a dumb question, 10 is the weight of the oil correct, not 40?

yeah I tested it with lighter oil cause I thought my damper might be pooched, and it's easier to work with 10w40 than gear oil..

Maybe Professor will chime in and show his chart on the differant in oil.80w gear oil is like using 40w motor oil.

USE A STRAIGHT WEIGHT OIL.If your using say 10/40,you're only getting the benifits of 10w.If you want 40w,use straight 40w.

What is the original stock wt oil? anyone know ? ... I was thinking it was 10 or 15 ... ? anyone? ... anyone ? ???

I have over 12,000 miles of hard riding, Wheelies, Road America Track Days, open road cornering and have never had a tank slapper or anything even close. My friend has a 2006 GSXR 1000 and the first week out had a bad slapper while we were racing, when he rolloed off the throttle. The dealership took back in for suspension adjustments and he has not ever had another one. They told us that in-proper suspension setup is mostly the cause of tank slapper's. Just thaught I would share this info. And I have my stock damper oil still intact. Good luck

I spend so much $ on stupid things, I decided that I would save up and install suspension components that would leave no doubt as to their performance. Because of the cost, I didn't do it all at the same time, but now that it's all done, my Hayabusa has capabilities that I never imagined. Raydog

Most people dont under stand that Gear and Motor oil Weights are classified differently. A 80W Gear oil is lighter then a 30W weight Motor oil. Here is a chart sowing the Weights compared.

80W gear oil. I don't think I ever saw 80W motor oil. I went with synthetic 80W (or 90w - don't remember exactly) gear oil in hopes that in time it deteriorates less than regular gear oil.

P.S. Way to bring an old thread to life. LOL

i'm not gonna use 80 or 90. I'm gonna go with 30
