To Mrabusa_h: Clutch plates I'm currently working with fit : 1977~ 83 Kaw KZ 650, 80~83 KZ 750, 83~85 GPZ 750, and other similar models. Friction plates same thickness as "thick" Busa plate. Steel plates are .010 ~ .015" thicker, on Kaw.
To KawAbuser: It may still be too early for MTC, or anyone else to have billet, or steel clutch shell. May be getting another clutch basket, to evaluate, in adapting, or making shell. My brother adapted steel Kaw 900 shell, to GS 1100 parts, before anything was available, aftermarket. ........................... ...My main concern is how thin the 8 inner friction plates are on the Busa. The 84 900 Ninja used to destroy clutches when plates would crack, taking shell, and eng. casing with it. I'm using 8 thick friction plates (not Suz), with shimmed, or stiffer springs. I also heard the 2000 Busa has longer spring studs, ( and possibly longer springs ? ) ..... ...Will advise on progress of clutch project. Johnnycheese may be assisting. .....Further details available on clutch plate setup. e-mail: chrisdolan@webtv.net
