As some of you know, I am wanting to simplify my life and get the hell out of California....so I'm thinning out the garage in anticipation of an upcoming move. The Vette is gone (sob), and the kids were getting a bit cramped in the back of the wife's CLK Cabriolet...so I sold it and got her this...it's an '05 E500...super sweet sedan....I dig this car alot. Fast, smooth, quite....killer Harmon/Kardon stereo..just need to get some nice rims/tires and it should be good to go. Now, a question: where should I move to? I'm leaning towards Texas, but I'm open for suggestions. I want: reasonable real estate pricing, good schools, and somewhere that has a sense of pride in their community. People in Cali just don't seem to give a sh*t about anything but themselves anymore, and I really want to find a friendly, small town place to raise my family.

Any input on your hometowns???

snooped around nw ft worth a few weeks back...seemed pretty nice. Isn't Austin "pricey" compared to the rest of Texas?

Prolly the most beautiful place I have been and the weather is pretty damn nice.

Good People, Decent housing prices, and you got mountains and the water...

It Rocks.

yeah...but you haven't been through the 6 months of grey drizzle that is the NW winter yet.......

Still...I'm thinking it may be on my short list....

My mom lived in Tacoma for a few years and I used to go out to visit her often...the winter time actually rocked compared to Wisconsin...it was a nice change anyway...Although, to admit, the rain was pretty consistent.

You don't have to be on the "wet" side! We get no more than 7" of precip per yr on the east side of the state....although if you are looking for a big boat retailer, your best bet is more than likely the west side.
How about Portland area? Lots of big boat dlrs there.... Less rain too.

Lake of the Ozarks Missouri. Not only boats, boats and more boats, but great twisties for the Busa!

while I can't help ya out in regards to a nice quiet place to live (unless you'd like to consider Guam), I am diggin the wifey's ride...

Yeah, Washington would be a good state to live in - no income taxes. And there's a really hot blond who rides around on a Busa up there...

Tim, have good friends who left here and moved to Lampasas, Tx. They had a killer home on King Rd in Loomis and used the proceeds to buy a small ranch in Lampasas. They said even though they missed all their friends here they love their new home and State. Soooo, Tx can't be too bad of a place to be.
