Ten innocents dead

The 2nd amendment is 1st among equals. It is the one constitutional right that can be used to ensure the others are not infringed upon. Recent studies show that there are from 60,000 to 2.5 million defensive gun uses each year in the US. This number ranges so widely because of no fixed definition for "defensive gun use". It sucks when crazy, stupid, or evil uses a firearm to kill innocent people. However that is no reason to impose restrictions on firearms.

I'm a libertarian and feel that in the US if you are free to walk the streets you should be free to own a gun without any sort of permission slip from a corrupt government.

Hi. STUDPID STUDPID STUDPID people. Any and all A holes like him should just shoot them self. And some people wonder why I am armed 24/7. I wish I was there.
You know, I don't think I'd enjoy living somewhere where I had or should be armed when I leave the house....

I spent enough time in countries where I had to be armed 24/7 and had to use said weaponry all too often.

It's nice to be in a place where it's not necessary to worry about having a weapon to fuss over all the time.

Kind of off topic and kind of on topic....this person being able to walk into a grocery store and open fire on people innocently going about their daily lives is exactly what we are talking about...

We live in a country where this sort of thing is very rare, whereas this sort of thing happens in the US quite often-why is that I wonder?

And as far as the governmental influence on Saskatchewan goes, there is quite a population difference at work here...some regions in the GTA have larger populations than the province of Saskatchewan and they live much closer together.
Mass shooting deaths though tragic are minuscule on the grand picture of deaths/murders. Pure gun violence though is through the roof but in most cases thats due to poverty/violence within and outside of the house and cultural acceptance (how many rap songs are about shooting people?) This is the same for canada as it is the states. Gun laws will not stop gun violence, mental health, proper education, employment, healthy home life will.

I haven't even locked my house for the last twenty years. LOL

cheers

Per capita, we in Canada have nowhere near the gun violence the US has.

Gun laws actually do curb gun violence but in the case of the US it is far too late to enact them as there are just too many weapons to sort out. All of the ideas you mentioned to stop (or slow) gun violence is a reality and should be used in conjunction with proper gun controls where owners are held to a higher responsibility to look after them.

The more guns which are made available through home invasions, theft or placed into the hands of family members who may in fact suffer from mental health issues is an issue. The old adage "guns don't kill people, people kill people" still rings true and people are certainly killing people with guns.

Out of all those people, somebody must have been armed....

...and yes, I know.....I wasn't posting his video because I am a fan, just pointing out his ideology is flawed.
Contrary to popular belief Colo. is not full of gun toting pot smoking crazies. Boulder is a big liberal area, I doubt anyone there had a weapon. I.
wonder about this guy as he had an Arabic sounding name, and wasn’t even from the Boulder area. Maybe it’s the altitude here that screws up the brain!

First it was blamed on White Supremacy but once it was found out that he was Islamist social media got somewhat quieter. What a fun and inclusive world we live in now.

bitchute? Any other far right news grabs you’re interested in? Where, other than right wing online ‘rags’ did you read where he was an “Islamist”? Being Muslim doesn’t mean he was an Islamist. He and his family moved here when he was a toddler. There seems to be NO connection with islamists or any other radical group. He chose a very powerful and concealable weapon though, apparently just a few days before. Not exactly a very thought out assault.

I just figured with the ability to carry weapons people automatically did.

With all the mass shooting which happen in the US, the motives have all been different, the pandemic has people acting crazier than normal......I guess time will soon tell what motivated this nut.

As for names, interestingly enough back in the day, Irish people changed their names as they were discriminated against.

As soon as we hear a name which derived from the middle east, our minds automatically link it to some sort of Islamic terrorist cell.....I was guilty of that myself-it took a long time to break me of that.

It's easy to see how Islamophobia can be a real thing....the Christians and Muslims have been at war since the emergence of the Islamic religion.

@WuzzaCBXRider you are as funny as the media instantly jumping on something, you have no proof of. He said multiple times on Facebook he was islamist, but religion aside that doesn't really matter. You posting a "very scary" gun is hilarious. I could only imagine the news outlets you follow and get your information from they properly sound something like this.

An Islamist and Islamist extremist are vastly different things though.

Like all religions there are zealots....

I side with @WuzzaCBXRider on his description of the weapon used....high capacity magazine, high velocity, fairly good range ammo and easily concealable.....that to me is a scary weapon.

Even more so than a hand gun due to the ability of the round being fired. This weapon has zero application in the real world other than to kill other people.

@Bumblebee I didn't say he was an extremist he simply said he wasn't islamist when he was. That gun would be a perfect coyote gun, but the real issue is handguns look at Virginia tech... long rifles are rarely used in gun violence yet they look scary so the masses get scared. A .223 isn't a big scary bullet a 9mm will do far more damage. But let's look at Canada for a second with our bullet proof gun laws, I have a stock and detachable mags for my SKS want to know what stops my 6 30 round mags from being illegal? A tiny rivet that stops you from loading more than 5 rounds it would take less than 5 seconds to make them from 5 rounds to 30....

Like most people they confuse being a Muslim to being an Islamist....

And, take it from a guy who has a very vast experience in weapons and ammo....a 5.56 (223) round does vastly more damage than a 9mm especially at a longer range...
On one of my courses, we were trained to shoot silhouettes at 100m with a 9mm but the penetration effectiveness of that round at that distance was limited and that was using match rounds.

As for your SKS...wait for it, that platform will be part of the ban as well....there has already been talk. As for your magazines, they will join the list of illegal high capacity magazines soon enough.

While we are on the subject of your SKS and probably ATI stock and magazines...time yourself doing a rapid mag change using that system....a person from 10 feet away could walk up and hit you with a stick before you complete the mag change...stripper clips and the factory magazine is the way to go for an SKS...

@Bumblebee at range a .223 will carry more stopping power but up close a 9mm is larger heavier bullet with less velocity it will do way more damage at 25 yards compared to a .223.
