The B-King is dead. Already?

If it's being discontinued, it's a real shame, because it's a superb bike. I have an 08 Busa, and my dealer (Streetbike Halesowen) kindly lent me one while the Busa was in for its 4000 mile service. If anything, it felt quicker than the Busa low down, and I was glad to have to give it back at the end of the day - phenomenal fun that would probably have ended in tears... Absolutely fantastic bike!

I like you already :beerchug:

Absolutely what I tell everyone.

Them: "That bike...(something negative)

Me: "Just ride one"

Them: "OOOOOOOOHHHH  "

After my first bike I wanted one, just didn't buy it because I knew its a bike that is a WHEN not IF you're going to jail on it.

When I found out a few months ago they were not bringing it back in 08 I had to get one.

... "If anything, it felt quicker than the Busa low down"...

They used shorter gearing, with the same engine...it may feel quicker on the low end, but it's the only way they could get that pig to get out of it's own way.

It is a shame that Suzuki missed the mark soooo badly on the B King :(

In addition to my busa, I've owned a '01 ZRX1200 Kaw bought new, currently 27K...

Upright bikes are a lot of fun, especially with a lot of torque and tight roads. All that leverage makes it like a big dirt bike.

The B-King advocate said wind protection means nothing until 150 mph. True for a thirty minute ride. Anything longer and you will want wind protection over 90.

The B-King needs some major removal of ugly trim pieces. Then get the weight down to 535 fully gassed with a few extra ponies from a pipe and remap.

As long as you have no long stretches of hi-speed highways, it would rock, IMO.

People that rip naked bikes haven't ridden them. There is a place for them, and in most street situations they rock.

Why would want to pay more $$$ for less bike...and about 30lbs heavier than a Busa :poke:

I have both a 2008 Busa and a 2008 B-King. Love them both. The B-King is very nimble for its size and more comfortable to ride than the Busa at speeds under 90 mph. The wind blast is noticeable above 90 or with a strong head wind, though not turbulent. It can just be fatiguing to your neck after a while.

I'm sorry to see that it won't be offered in the USA for 2009. I think the economy has something to do with that and the looks, though once you ride one the looks don't matter as much. I've had several compliments, from both men and women, that have seen it in person. I think it makes a better impression up close than in a photograph.

I like to looks of it, though I may change the exhaust some day if I can save for it and the options are still available. It's a wonderful, versatile and fun motorcycle so I plan on keeping mine for a long while (like I have choice in the current market ).

The King is still being sold abroad and I bet it will be around for some years to come as it is an outstanding machine. Not withstanding track duty this is the finest road ride I've ever been on. It is comfortable at least for me 5' 8" 165 LB and it is brutally powerful. Pick any gear and you can drive in it... seriously you could literally drive on the highway in 1st or cruise a parking lot in 6th. The engine is well proven. The Bee makes rough roads very comfortable and the King carves turns in the real world as well as any bike I have ever ridden. It would not be able to keep up with race replicas in turns on the track but that was not its engineered purpose - See GXSR 1000/R1. Its short comings on the track are what makes it such a great road bike. Its heft gives it tractability and the somewhat soft rear soaks up road bumps and pot holes. The only poor handling characteristic (maybe rider characteristic) I have noticed is the bouncy rear shocks combined with outrageous torque coming out of corners. Aggressively rolling on power before coming back vertical out of corners can put that adrenaline shiver down your spine as the rear wheel just wants to "skitch and scorch" laterally to the roadside. As a 44 year old who has been riding motorcycles since 1978 I think this cycle is the best of its category - what ever that is...

For those who portend to know what a motorcycle is supposed to look like. Maybe new pipes, different style rear end and stiffer shocks, different colors -and in a couple years they will reintroduce it as B-King retro/redux or something like that...

By the way, since when do a few stylistic angles put real men in such a hissy. I haven't heard so much whining since the show "Quere Eye For Straight "motorcycle" guy". It's not like the King is pink with flowers for cry'in out loud. This cycle has a 162 hp and nearly 100 ft lbs of torque - nuf said for any real man!

Most people agree the '57 chevy is a classic. Go take a look at the fins on that baby!

Anybody who wants over the top performance (and who doesn't) and handling and does not want to feel like their sitting in a lazy boy or trying to do push-ups will absolutely lust after this cycle. All it takes is one ride.

Love the King - pipes and all

Damn brpo. A few people don't like it and your head spins around like Linda Blaire. Grow thicker skin. It's just the internet after all. :poke:

Note to internet nanny...

Relax Tru - I'm not at all "spun up" - its called baiting for a response. Satire and verbal jousting! It's just the internet after all!

The devil in me made me respond...

Get it -- spun up , devil in me!

I liked the BKing the first time I saw it. I still like it.
Those of you that think the BKing does not handle well should go riding with my buddy, Richard C.

So a bunch of people don't like the looks of the B-King no big deal.... Ya never have to look at it very long as it pulls away.... No wonder so many people hate the looks of the bike from the back end.. The poor guys never get to see it from the front.. LOL
I like by B-King and my Busa.... and I'm happy to have both. Its easy for people to cut down something they have never had out for a ride. Ya don't like the King so what.... no hair off my :moon:

Can we say that the B-King is "No Longer Reproducing" instead of calling it "Dead"?

I'd like to think my bike is "alive" and well :poke:

I don't have a problem with the B-King at all, aside from maybe they priced it too high (in my opinion, of course). I mean, there's a Hayabusa sitting right next to them on the showroom for a couple grand less. Most people (obviously) are going for the Busa.

Oh, and if Suzuki is killing the BKing in the U.S., it must be more then just a few people that think it's overpriced and not very attractive. Sales must be pretty slow.

I'll agree that the price was up there, and I'm glad that they didn't sell that well so I was able to get it from the dealer as cheap as possible.

But you do get A LOT of bike for the money, it can do several things well, things people don't think it could. Big  for the overall value IMO

Wow! is all I can keep saying. Came to this site for hopefully mods, as we share the same engine. Dead or not....This ones a keeper. See you on the Dragon

If you need some mod info let me know. Also, check my thread with what I've done so far here

This thread delivers. I love my B-King. The only 'Busa I've ever ridden was my neighbors. Although a nice bike, it's no B-King in the comfort department. Now I know what I call comfortable and what the next guy calls comfortable are two different things in most cases. We swapped bikes for a few minutes, nothing serious, just in town riding around a few blocks. I'll tell you this: his smile was a helluva lot bigger when he came back on my bike than mine was with his.
