The Layoff

So we got the news that we will be told who is going home on friday. Kinda shitty to get to work on friday morning and be told your laid off so go home now

Oh well I am ready for what ever happens, I was supposed to take friday off and go to Texas for the weekend but that is cancled now. Guess I'll just work in my garden this weekend, maybe all next week too

Being laid off sucks, i was recently cought on the receiving end of 1 also.

Being in the Homebuilding industry in Florida is bad right now.

Nothing says you have no worth or value better than a large company telling you they don't need your abilities anymore. I know the feeling myself.

The job market is decent right now, so fire off those resumes, shake hands firmly with a smile and good eye contact, always dress up - I don't care what anyone says, and you'll bounce back quickly.

What about switching careers altogether? That can be very fulfilling.

Good skills, brother, you will survive. Jobs be a fluid system in the USA

I had been dodging lay-offs for 6 years..then they caught me in Jan.... things have sucked since.
My ex-employer has layed off about 35,000 (yes thirty-five thousand) employees world wide since 2001.

Moving jobs to Mexico and Turkey... fuggem!

I've been laidoff since aug 23! Bad thing about my location is that when jobs come open you got about one to two hundred people all appling for the same job.

Hate to say it guys, but about the only steady thing anymore is my business. Correctional officer. The prisons are stuffed full and we dont have enough staff as it is. Who says crime doesnt pay? It pays me twice a month!

been there, done that and it isn't any fun...however, it ended up getting me out of a dead end position and made me move forward...many times the end result of a temporary set-back can be positive but it sure hurts in the meantime

Well I'm still here and safe

. They are still cutting people so not sure what the chain of command will be, so far the CEO,COO,CFO, Production Manager(my boss) and the two supervisors are all gone. Looks like whoever is left will have a serious task ahead of us to keep the buisness alive
