The News

I've given up on a Gen 3. I think there is too much $ in the liter bikes for them. I'm actually giving thought to just cashing out my chyt and finding a different way to enjoy my efforts in life. I haven't ridden in almost 2 years now.
Well to be honest I am feeling you. The BMW has rekindled riding for fun though. I go out and play and I'm very safe and don't have to dodge cops all day. I love the Busa but it just seems like the world is passing her by. I can't understand Suzuki not doing the minimum to keep the legend going a little bit longer, but they have clearly thrown in the towel.

Purchase price, insurance cost, traffic congestion, more police enforcement on the roads and the general public's changing attitude towards fossil fuels are all nails in the coffin of the hyperbike.

Not much incentive for a company to pour millions of R&D dollars into a bike with a limited market.

I hear that.....bikes such as the Hayabusa and ZX14R are kind of niche bikes so maybe their time has come and gone....Honda was doing pretty good with their Blackbird but gave up on that and never made a hyperbike again. Although the mew CBR1000RR is pretty potent..

I don't know the future but see super and turbo charging to be part of it, Kawasaki perfected the supercharger and aftermarket has perfected the turbo charger...

I honestly think if I had a larger parcel of land, I'd probably buy a mini tractor and basically live on that...I already spend a lot of time on my lawn tractor which cost more than my Hayabusa did ironically enough...

I never thought I'd say this but Honda has redesigned the GoldWing. Its like a sporty version of a touring bike rather then the Hayabusa going the sportbike with touring intentions. Put it on a diet and gave it more power and tech. I can't believe I actually think the Goldwing is a better bike than the Haybusa if I am chewing away some highway miles and then hit some twistys here and there. Which is where my Busa tends to live. But actually I am thinking about moving on from biking. I won't ride a Wing anymore than a Busa if its a time available thing.

I saw a new Wing the other day and it is a whole different bike than the previous one for sure.

Sometimes it is what it is and other priorities take over...I guess this is why there are so many bikes for sale out there.

It's DCT transmission is an engineering benchmark. I think it will be the new standard for motorcycles. Its like a paddle shifting transmission for motorcycles now. You can shift manually or let if figure out when to shift.

All you Busa ship jumpin' bastids. This is blasphemy.
Consider yourselves all off the my Christmas card list...permanently.
I also feel compelled to call Cap and the admins to...

I have a quick shifter now and it gets addictive...

Granted but they load the next gear and when its time to shift its a continual progression of rapid gear changes. It looks like you never have to unload the engine like you do a single clutch setup. You just move power into or out of the transmission by the right wrist. Its the best of both worlds. No more clutching in traffic. No more gear hunting in changing situations.

Would be funny if you reported this thread, :beerchug:
Done. Funny you mention reporting fallen my brother...I just 20 minutes ago reported my own thread..."Trying to get ahold of Captain" thing.
I cited nudity,vulgarity,etc etc.
Sometimes you have to slap them in the face to get their attention.

I don't know what happened to your other thread Rubb. That thread was yours. I posted on it this morning. Then it was gone. If you took it down, that's your prerogative. I got nothing sent to me like a warning or a rule violation, so I just assumed you didn't like the seriousness of the topic matter. It doesn't matter to me if you took it down. But don't come here causin no trouble ya bastid. :-)

I test rode the GW and it is a very, very nice bike. That transmission is awesome and I would be cool with it on any bike. The GW is a much better bike that my K1600 was. I think the Africa has one on it too, but I haven't ridden that Honda.

Twas not me,me bruvah. My SuperPower Admin priviledges were revoked years ago. I was bad. :p I don't think members can delete even their own threads. I thought the thread was OK...no issues for me. The only thing I will miss about that thread was my picture of the rich racial diversity of the great city of Seattle. :(
Brown,Canadian:laugh:,Black,White & Yellow. All of the "Food Groups" were well represented I thought. O'well...such as life.

Yeah I can see why they revoke your butt. #MeToo folks will be on your butt by day's end now.

Oh wait that's like last Tuesdays cause. Nevermind then. :)

It's sad that the animals do not realize the world has turned for colonial era hatreds. What NASCAR did yesterday, inspired by a small-minded idiot, was incredible. I worked with NASCAR in Richmond on a proposed project and they are totally opposite of their fan reputation. They are a progressive company and they hire some of the best minority talent they can. Many people don't realize that NASCAR is hurting. The perception of races being redneck parties has trapped them into a being iconic of a dramatically shrinking audience. NASCAR even worries a lot about not being respected worldwide by motorsports fans because they are seen as a redneck smash up derby. Many people who like racing watch NASCAR on TV and won't go to a race because of the fans there. NASCAR was(is?) looking at closing a lot of tracks and becoming an insignificant curiosity. I personally love NASCAR but have stayed away because of the fan base.

What those drivers did yesterday was save their sport. No doubt most of them felt what happened to Bubba was wrong but it's the sport they were worried about. All those sponsors painted on those cars are looking at their operations from top to bottom and trying to present the most inclusive faces they can. Sponsoring a racist sport is not going to cut it because that only gets them a small, quickly shrinking market share.

What happened yesterday was spontaneous, but it was years in the making. NASCAR was looking for a seam to step out of the draft of racism, they saw an opening yesterday and they took it.
. NASCAR lost me not because of any of the things you stated, but because of their rule changes. I liked when the cars were based on real stock cars, not one part on the cars today can be found in a dealership.

Yes those days of race on Sunday sell on Monday were crazy times. I talked to a couple NASCAR guys about that and they said that as cars were getting smaller and more fuel efficient they became less and less raceable even when they were modified. It got to the point that you couldn't even modify those dogs to go fast. Also, going around a super speedway at 200 mph (safely) for 500 miles is just out of the performance of almost any stock based car. At some point they said are we going to change every part in a stock car so it's really a different car anyway or build a purpose built car that can really put on a show?
