Thoughts on cruisers??

I looked at the vrod, it made my old man happy..... then I told him my new 2013 Limited Busa was going to be my cruiser :lol:

The Busa is 10xs more comfortable to me than ANY cruiser, seriously.

I respect your opinion vis a vis a Busa is more comfortable, but respectifully I think you've lost all normal feeling or your name is Clark Kent (man of steel). As far as sports go the Busa relatively speaking may be comfortable but if you want to eat miles hour after hour. This is the route to go - low slow comfortable and enough gear to camp for a week...

^^I'm dead serious, I had a fatboy and that sucker hurt my back, and my mom out ran me in her Benz. The Busa is way more comfortable to me. My new bike is getting a Givi top case. After I get finished with my Super Ultra build I will most likely turbo it as well.

Maybe I have a deformed back

I'm curious to know how many miles you have traveled on a trip with your busa vs a cruiser of equal distance? What type of cruiser was used as well

Ive taken a vrod on a 600 mile trip, a Cross Bones on a 1800 mile trip and the Busa on a 500 mile, I am plenty comfortable on the Busa.

Ive taken a few 1000 mile trips and 1 2000 mile trip on the Busa, and many many 400 mile 1 day rides. This is with no comfort mods, only a turbo and 6" over swing arm.

I just feel plain goofy on a cruiser, like i'm a clown and i'm heading to the circus.:p:

This was my 08 night rod special and just like the busa the v-rod has alote of after market parts you can get.I am not to shore about m109r and victory.the v-rod is a great daliy driver and real good at the track the only thing better is the v-max

Can't stop quick
Can't turn or evade quick
To me they are not comfortable, yes believe it or not Sportbikes are more comfy and cause less pain on my back.
And they have zero performance

They suck.

But I do like the way they look

Again, the B-King!
One of the most underated bikes out there.
In the U.S for only one year(2008), and stock exhaust that likely killed it's marketability.
Otherwise, the Busa engine, and with some ecu tweaks the same performance and hp/tq numbers.
More leg room, upright seating position, no lean the bars.
Anyone who finds the Busa uncomfortable for cruising or anything other than agressive riding, should definately ride a B-King!
I loved my gen2 Busa, until it became too uncomfortable for me to ride anymore. I have no regrets on trading it for a B-King, only that I didn't do it sooner.
Mine's the one parked next to the Kawasaki:laugh:

I was against anything other than sportbikes.....Then I rode a friends Honda VTX1800R That bike had plenty of balls and a huge comfy seat you could sit on all day.

Got plenty of time on one of those. I thought it sucked, I always told my buddy that had one for a little while that he looked like a clown on it. He later got a ZX14

Hi there.... and I can relate. I had a rude awakening after a Passport ride I did on my 05 Busa in 2009. I rode approx. 1200 miles in 3 days and by the time I got home I was beat! Due to some health issues I couldn't ride as long as I had before. (I couldn't ride for about 2 years) However, on my long ride to get my passport stamps I had to stop in at a few HD dealerships... The one that caught my eye was the V-Rod Muscle. I told myself that "IF" I was to ever get a cruiser, that would be the one I'd get....and then I saw the price! Yeah... it's a bit much but as you stated, the components that it's fitted with are definitely worth it. I just never saw myself having 2 bikes. No. 1, I didn't think my wife would go for it. No. 2, I didn't think my wife would go for it! lol But... the fact that it would be a bit more comfortable than my busa was a great selling point. A couple months later I had one in my garage. I happened by a guy selling one he had just bought 6 months earlier. For some reason he just decided not to keep it. I saved a ton of money and he had already had a VH's screaming eagle air tuner/exhaust kit installed. It also had ABS and the factory sec. system. I went just a bit further and added the quick release shield and back rest for the wife.... as well as a very sharp looking rack that I keep my roll bag mounted. Lastly I wired in my Zumo and I was all set. I can ride this thing so much further now and am very comfortable. So, yes... I like it very much and it's got plenty of power even though I wish it had a 6th gear but it's a very very smooth ride.
I have owned 7 bikes now and the last 2 back to back were Hayabusas.... my last one was the Harley and I can tell you this, they are indeed two different animals but it's nice to have a choice as to what to ride depending on how I feel or how I want to ride. The V-Rod is a very well built/designed machine and I've really enjoyed having it. The responsiveness obviously isn't anything close to the Busa but it makes up for that in other ways. It shifts effortlessly and it can carve a corner fairly well... I've found that out the hard way to know just how far to take her over... You'll have to get use to the forward controls of course as well as the rake. You won't manuver this beast the same way. For me it was all just taking the time getting to know the personality of a totally different bike...and it was awesome.
Another bonus for me is when my dad comes to visit he can ride my Harley and I just take my Busa. He's from SD and I'm in VA so trailering his bike takes some effort to get it all the way out here. He just traded is GWing in for a 2012 HD Ultra Classic Limited.
So I hope that may help you a little bit... sorry it I got a bit off track but I love talking about bikes anyway! All in all everyone has an opinion but it really comes down to your own person preferance../Users/markhartman/Pictures/iPhoto Library/Modified/2010/Apr 2, 2010/IMG_5161.JPG

Are you doing the 2013 Va. Grand tour?

I agree! Problem is that B-Kings are not that easy to come by and the prices are high on the ones you do find. I've got 23K on my King and put it into semi-retirement this fall. Because I like it so much and they are rare it's now a garage trophy only to be taken out on sunny afternoon rides around town.

This is my principle ride now and while not a cruiser or a sport, it does have many of the benefits of both. I like it very much especially for cold weather riding.

Battle of Bull Run / First Battle of Mannasass Battlefield yesterday. Cold but pretty day. 2011 Kawasaki Concours. This is the battle in which General Jackson was said to have gained his nickname, when another general while rallying his troops exclaimed "Look there stands Jackson like a stone wall"

Hi... I hadn't thought about it yet. I believe it was last year they brought it back and I opted out only because there were sooo many destinations I knew I couldn't finish and get to all of them! It was more realistic when they did it the first year in 2009. There were around 60+ stops if I remember right. I finished the entire ride and it felt great after having been away from riding so long....other than finding out I needed a more comfortable ride for the longer destiniations. I did register for the 2010 ride but only got to a few places and then life got busy. So I guess we'll see what they have in mind for 2013. Are you going to register for it? and did you do last years ride?
