Too old to ride a Hayabusa

I am 56 and have heard all my life don`t do that. I do what pleases me. Don`t get that car, it is too fast. Guns are dangerous, leave them alone.
Don`t hunt, it is dangerous. You should not flyfish. Float tubes are not safe. Riding your bicycle 50 miles is just waiting for a car to hit you. You reload a bullet can blow up and kill you. Don`t go four wheel driving you could roll over.

When I gave my son a Daisy Red Ryder for his 5th birthday, oh my goodness...............................................

I really get a kick out of the co-worker that tells me I should get rid of my bike. He says they are dangerous and I am going to get killed on it. I told him I have two things to say to him about that.

1. He can`t ride, and is afraid to try and ride. If you have not experienced it, too bad.
2. I want to go out doing something I love doing. I don`t want to go in a house fire, crossing the street, because a big rig ran over my truck, or die at work sitting here alone.

Ride until you have had enough. I plan on it.

Thanks for the welcomes and the positive comments, so the Busa stays ( It would have anyway) Yep age is just a number....I can still get a hardon too.....Always do when I am riding or about to....Busa or *****.

My grandpa still flys his 3 planes and he is 85. And not the Normal beach crafts, twin engine sleek machines. He is my "go to" story when people say "everyone" over 75-80 should not drive. Anyway, do what you love while you can, otherwise what's the point.

I hear that stuff now and im 24. Its too dangerous sell it think of your family. Just know when you can't do it and then get off. I have seen a couple guys that just shouldn't be riding at an old age and that puts everyone at risk. But if you still got it, use it buddy. I will be riding till I can't and then not sure where I will get my fix :D last summer is when I bought my busa and I did get to speeds that I shouldn't have and got crap for it from everyone but my mom. People told her what I did and she looked at them in the eyes and said she worries about me and my bike but she would rather have a son die doing what he loves at a young age then live a long life not doing anything that makes me happy. If you ain't living life how you want whats the point of living!

Too old, bah! I'm 54 and can still hold my own with the youngsters on the Saturday morning "rides". Old, Busa, and all.
I got a lot of the "too dangerous" thing for a long time, but eventually it stopped, and now everyone I think kinda looks forward to my next stunt. Along with the Busa I ride dirt bikes in the woods, and race an occasional harescramble. Just bought the motocross bike and will be going to the local track on weekends this summer. Working toward racing our area Arenacross series next winter. Which brings up bicycles. Ride those too as they are also fun, and excellent physical training.
The yearly number may be getting bigger, but I'm not ready to take to my easy chair just yet. The elderly don't regret the things that they've done, they regret the things that they didn't do. I aim to keep those regrets to a minimum.

I turned 56 a month ago have had my Busa for a year now. I have a Harley Clasic and a Honda VTX 1800n which one you think I put the most miles on last summer. I'm also a Legion Rider and most of them ride Harleys. When they give me a hard time I just tell them I'll run your Harley and only use second gear that usually shuts them up. Your only as old as you feel have fun and enjoy the ride. I got stopped last year for speeding when I took my helmit off I think the officer was a little surprised. Just got a slow down a little and have a nice day.

I am 54, been riding a Busa for 7 years now and still love it, it's still one of the most comfortable and smoothest bikes I have ever ridden and goes like stink. All old farts should have one.

Glad to read all the old boot stories.I am 53 and bought my 2009 Busa two years ago.Dreamed about these bikes since they came out and when the Gen 11 came out I had to get one. I had not had a motorcycle in over 20 years.Well, this Busa is the nicest thing I have ever owned and I will always keep it or something better.I love getting on the world's coolest ride, imo, and letting it rip or cruise.Anything can be dangerous,I just try to be reasonable and respect the ride.Have fun and hope you enjoy your new bike.

You'll know when you get too old to ride, but only you will know that. I get a lot of the "mid-life crisis" and "grow up" comments too at 50 years old. But the fact is I feel more like myself when I'm flying through the air 3 feet above the ground than I do sitting in an office being a "grownup". I'm not in great shape but I can sit on a Busa for 9-10 hour days without any problem, so why stop something I love so much? The only concession I have made for age is that I don't ride too long without a 10-15 minute rest (usually for gas), I keep hydrated, and I don't let myself get too hot or tired.

I many ways the 45-65+ years are the best time to be on a bike. The kids are old, you have more money to buy good equipment, insurance is reasonable, you can take time off from work, and most of all you have control of the testosterone so you don't act like an idiot.

First time posting on this forum.
Funny thing , I turn 57 today and saw this
Post. I got rid of the Harley 10 years ago and
Have been on a sport bike since. Bought my 08 busa
New and never get off it without a smile.
Love my busa.

Well good on you! :welcome:

You are as young as you feel and if ya think old then ya probably are...
I refuse to...46 and still takin names and ridin wheelies!

It also helps to have a hot younger wife...

I'll tell you the same thing I told my son who will be 42 this summer. You are too old to be riding such a high performance machine. You need to sell the Hayabusa. I'm keeping mine though.:laugh:

I can live with that. I feel like I'm 118 years old, but act like I'm 14. If we average that out, lets see, dammit I'm still old!

...maybe i am gettin' old, just went out on the freeway and ran it up to an indicated 160 in 4th gear and felt like i was movin'(though it was probably the snarl of the Short Meg at around 11,000 rpms that made it sound like i was movin').
