Top Speed!?!?

I just want to add one more thing to this thread guys. You better have a darned good wide road with no vehicles or animals if you attempt this because at speed you can forget having control. If something happens you're done.

No crap, if I ever go this fast it is in the middle of day (less animals are out) a road with NO intersecting roads, (one without driveways is even better for a long ways anyhow). and first pass I go slow to check out the road, and any hazards that may lurk, (And look for the po po too!!)

shouldn't cost 6k in motor to pass 200 in the mile. Poor fella don't tell him I said that though.

If he's 250lbs.+ it might... j/k

Some of you need to realize the difference between FLAT OUT on a 5-mile stretch of road and 1-mile from a dead stop (i.e. Maxton, Texas, etc.). Totally different results depending on the venue. Running flat out for 5-miles, the bike is more aero and wind limited where a 1-mile race the bike is more or less still accelerating (depending on may factors of course)....

With ZERO factors calculated in like wind, tire slip, etc. etc....a stock BUSA 99/00 (01+ unrestricted) will run anywhere from 188-196mph flat out on a LONG stretch of road. In a 1-mile race you are talking 170-185ish.

I pulled 182 at the Texas Mile on a 100% bonestock 08 BUSA with the restriction removed (FYI...I'm 220lbs. and no jockey). That's a 1-mile drag race.....but the bike has been 190mph GPS with a smudge to go but not much running out of road. Even with a smaller rider, you are gear limited to 194-195 on a Gen-II. A Gen-I might go a smudge faster because of the gearing but that's it.

NO WAY will any stock BUSA unrestircted run 200mph, no way NEVER! The speedo lies and is anywhere from 12-18% OFF, reading faster than actual. If you have a gear change it can be off 20%+. So if you indicate 180mph on the speedo.....ACTUAL speed could be 145mph... Your best bet is to buy a GPS or attend one of the many LSR events and see what your ACTUAL speed is and not what the foolish speedo tells you.

Unless you want to be one of those guys on a 600cc bike with a sprocket change saying you went 210mph....and it's true because the speedometer said so....

Well said!
You're absolutely right. I didn't realize we were talking in a mile, I thought the OP was just asking about top speed period.

What he said....I know ti took me longer than a mile to hit the 188 that I did(mainly due to my weight I'm sure). But I thought the question was top speed(unlimited distance), not 1 mile speed(more of a long drag race).

Yup, it takes a very special road. Raydog

Must be nice to have straightaways l like that...I dont think theres a road in TN that long and straight with that good sight distance. :unhappy:

Okay so how fast are these things? my Speedo tells me things but its wrong, TV tells me things, but they are wrong too, Bonnevillle tells me things but its salt, tires spin, more friction... How fast will a stock Busa, W/O limiter go?
For bragging rights I've had my stock speedo completely pegged on my busa.......so maybe 200+ My 14's also been pegged.....speedo buries a little farther, so maybe 205-8+
The factory wouldn't lead us wrong now would they?:rofl::rofl: Now all the fan boys can say "see, he went over 200 on a stocker!!!" :poke::laugh::rofl:

RayDog lives in reno......5-10 minutes (depending where he lives) away from some of the curviest, most scenic riding in the nation, and only 20 minutes away from tahoe  If it wasn't for the winters it would be absolute sportbike heaven :beerchug: Those shots look like maybe out on pyramid highway...or heading north towards susanville, up by honey lake? The loop from reno up Mt. Rose, through tahoe/truckee/89 down to loyalton/graeagle is an awesome ride  But then they're all awesome in that area  So many roads so little summer :( The only drawback is the 4500ft in elevation killing your hp......and winter :banghead:

There is this ONE guy whose BUSA will do 220mph!!! Yea... he's got this special "chip" in it that causes it to go that fast!! I'll have to dig around and find the link for you, or maybe someone else may have it

I've noticed my bike is a lot quicker an has a lot more top end since I put the 220 gauges an haven't connected the yellow box yet:rofl::rofl::rofl: may leave it like that, looks like it has gotten quite a hp increase just from the new cluster:laugh:
