Say I had an idea and would like some input on it? I really love the 240 look and ride after I road a buddies of mines here in Atlanta. I did not see the turning problems associated with the 240 kits as many have feared; I assume it is more of a issue of the persons riding style and how much do they trust there skills & approach. Well either way, my question is if I get a SSS (Single Side Swingarm) will this eliminate the centering issue?

NOPE! The arm only has small part with it being centered. Its more about the chain to the frame, and chain to the tire.
Frame / chain / sprocket - spacer/ tire....all come into play.

ATC has some really nice looking 240 kits. They are suppose to be centered as well. At least that is whats advertised on their website??? If I had the money right now I'd have one

I know Roaring Toyz is doing a 2" over 240 and from what I hear it still will hang in the turns with the right tire. I plan on doing the 2 over stock, Have the custom look and still be able to ride it.:beerchug:

the orange bike asked about earlier is a 240, ive had a 240,300,and a 330 kit and LOVED them all!!! but for me its the 300 for the win! like stated before its your $ and your bike hook it up and never look back, it will still do everything it would before as long as you know what your doing and how to ride it.

We did this conversion and even though it's something I would not do for myself, the bike handled well and at no time did the fat tire bother me.

I have a trac arm 6 inch over and the rear tire is currently of by 3/8 of an inch. The stock spacers dont get you over enough to center up the tire ( off center to the right to much) let me ask a question? so if i have to take the spacer on the chain side in to my shop and turn a spacer to allign the tire i should? How much can you grind out from the frame. I see pics but that does not tell me roughly how much to grind

Thats the fun part of a 240. The rear tire won't center up, its designed to be off a bit. You should have gotten a new offset font sprocket with the kit. Put the front sprocket, rear wheel and chain on and grind accordingly. Just enough to keep the chain out of the frame. You wanna keep the chain straight. If ya don't do it enough, the front sprocket will loosen over time and you'll need to replace the chain. Ask me how I know....

I've seen one 240 kit on 2008 busa and dead centered. It depends on the people ho installed them. He has to grind the inside frame and modify the front sprocket to make them align with the rear sprocket to get it centered. I didn't do it to mine because I didn't want to mess with the frame.

Man I would love to center my 240 wheel!!!
My hesitation is wreaking the frame by grinding it down...
The offset bothers me a ill bit but wreaking the frame would be worse. I've heard the 99-01 have aluminum frames. I have an 04 but don't know if its aluminum or not it def doesn't seem to be. Any input on this would be great. Also if any one knows a shop to do this in the s.florida area I'd appreciate the info.
Thx in advance guys.

does anyone happen to know what the minimum stretch you can do with the 240 kit? I know that the shorter the stretch the more radically off the chain will become, but I would only really like to do it on my bike if I could keep the stretch to +4 or less....

I believe Roaring toyz has a 4 over 240 and that's the minimum thats made. The length has no bearing on the chain, it'll be offset about a 1/4in into the frame regardless. The ideal way to go wide is a 330 outside drive, they don't require a jack shaft or frame modding. The 330 is pretty wide and a few grand more than a 240.

it looks like our own Ballz motorsports has a 240 kit with a +3 setting on it...depending on what kinda #s its gonna add up to, it's definitely tempting...

News to me, I haven't been keeping up on em recently, I've got an All Things Chrome 240 in the garage, can't decide if ill ever wanna go back to long and low or stay high and fast. Word of.advice, you will lose some.performance with a 240, both acceleration and handling, how much that matters depends on your riding style.

Here's a couple pics of my routing toyz 240. It has the 2-4 over arm. There isn't much grinding at all with the kit on the gen II. I really only ground off the paint and just a hair bit Of metal and its clear.
