Unveiling of 1340 was a cover?

(ibified @ Jul. 23 2007,10:21) I couldnt see them putting out the '08 with a 1340 then coming with a 1500 in '09 simply for the fact that it would be a HUGE needless expense to retool the line for it.  Not only that, but that's a lot of wasted R&D on the 1340 motor.
actually?...i could see that happening...as follows...

Lessee here...suzi could've had outstanding PO's for a contracted amount of engine block/cases/parts or?..a standing inventory of such and they ain't gonna eat all that pre-planned manufactured product so?...what do they do?...just like they did with all those TL1000 units they had sitting around they needed to get rid of...hence the TLR, TLS, V-Strom, SV1000...ingenious marketeering to rid the warehous shelves of premanufactured product...and now that Kaw has finally stepped to the plate in a big way?.....rut-ro....here's suzi still pumping out GSX1300R units like asian madmen and now whadda we do with'em?...okay?....we can stroke'em a tad and release our new dual injection system (intended for the still in development 1,500cc) and barely edge out mean green and finally add the detuned B-King to our line-up to secure supplimental sales for the remaining warehoused units and move that old product out of here and off our shelves BEFORE we release the 1,500cc beast...which upon release would render the 1300 units almost un-sellable as new.

Suzi learned a hard lesson when they went whole hog on the TL1000 scene only to turn around and kick their own sales azz with their notorious Gixxer 750 a few years back...and i'm certain they are handling this issue with extreme salesmenship to make certain they don't hafta try an come out with a GSX1300 V-Strom!

So?...could be possible...JMHO & L8R, Bill.

(tinmann @ Jul. 23 2007,14:02) Its the same motor with a 2mm stroke increase .
There are things in the new motor that you would have a real hard time reproducing for the money! Titanium Valves, new throttle bodies, stroker Crank, Shot peened Chromoly Rods, cylinder block vents, Slipper clutch etc. I for one am going to wait until I see how it actually performs before I get pissed.
I couldn't have said it better...

I guess I should put in my .02. I think that this is gonna be one of the biggest money makers in the history of the world. Zuk and Kaw are gonna string everyone along, have everyone flipping loans and everyone that rides a bike will be broke. They are gonna slowly increase bores one at a time. And people are gonna buy them just for the bragging rights!!!!!! I think I will just sit back and watch all the fools spend their money just to say they have the biggest motor stock for that year.

If you are gonna believe everything people tell you (especially when the facts are in the open) then I have a bridge I would like to sell you. There's also some coastal land for sale in the middle of the Country that I can let you have for a price well below market value.

(tinmann @ Jul. 23 2007,17:02) It's got a 15% power increase over the previous years of Busas
ices_rofl.gif
 Big frigging deal .
rock.gif

A 15% increase on 155hp is 178hp. A 15% increase on 160hp is 184hp.

Being that the Gen-1 Busa puts out 155-160, that'll mean the new one puts out 178-184. That means more HP than the 14 with 12 cc's less. You don't see that as a big deal?

Pointless pontification.

As I see it, this is not an issue to lose any friends over.

However, you've all made for some enjoyable reading this morning...

Where you coming up with 15% .....Zook is saying 11%  at the crank...The zooks Reps in Vegas were asked by the Dealers how much RWHP the 08 had over the 07 the answer was 10 hp ...So an 99 to 07 Busa AVG 154 at the wheel that means a 08 will be 164 HP.... And that is what it should work out too, seening that Zook said 198 at the crank with ram air  and the zx14 is 197 at the crank with Ram air ... Stock AVG zx14 makes 163 at the wheel ... That's one HP different  Crank to crank  and wheel to wheel ..... Unless the Busa was some magic show  going on inside the transmission...
ices_rofl.gif
The drive train loses should be the same for both bikes ...

Hey , The 15 % power increase are the numbers that some board members have been throwing around not me .

From another board, for what its worth...

suzuki engineers were worried about people thinking the new one would just have a carried over engine. He assures that it is totally revamped.
His words...

more compact cylinder head with titanium valves (same sizes as previous hayabusa) Using single springs to save weight and a new hydraulic cam-chain tentioner. Redesigned and lighter pistons with smaller pin diameter (18 mm vs 20 mm) 2mm more stroke and SCEM-coated cylinders 1340 cc of displacent. Pistons reach top dead center with more compression force (12.5:1 vs 11.0:1) rigs got an ion-plating treatment for better cylinder sealing, reduced friction, reduced oil consumption, and improved reliability. rods are now shot peened chromoly steel for additional strength. Reworked crankshaft driving heavy duty clutch and transmission filled with heat treated, shot peened cogs. final drive gearing is now 43/18. Revised cylinder ventilation reduces pumping losses, while gear driven counter balancer and back torque limited clutch continue from old bike.
and the list goes on and on.

he also said that it pulls hard from 1st through 5th with no noticeable let up.

Predictions....i think it will run 9.5s in the quarter from what i read or better. He said its not that much different then the 1000s in acceleration in first and second, but doesnt loose steam there after.

Regardless of what Suzuki does now or in the future, I am happy as hell with my 05 LE. I wouldn't get rid of it for nothing. I could care less who makes more power, who has bigger nutz, blah, blah, blah....

Mine still looks great, and runs like a raped ape.

A guy on another board claims an English mag is already doing their comparison of the 14, new busa and old and the new busa IS running 9.5's. Pretty good prediction oldroller
