(Oldroller @ Jul. 24 2007,19:18) From another board, for what its worth...

suzuki engineers were worried about people thinking the new one would just have a carried over engine. He assures that it is totally revamped.
His words...

more compact cylinder head with titanium valves (same sizes as previous hayabusa) Using single springs to save weight and a new hydraulic cam-chain tentioner. Redesigned and lighter pistons with smaller pin diameter (18 mm vs 20 mm) 2mm more stroke and SCEM-coated cylinders 1340 cc of displacent. Pistons reach top dead center with more compression force (12.5:1 vs 11.0:1) rigs got an ion-plating treatment for better cylinder sealing, reduced friction, reduced oil consumption, and improved reliability. rods are now shot peened chromoly steel for additional strength. Reworked crankshaft driving heavy duty clutch and transmission filled with heat treated, shot peened cogs. final drive gearing is now 43/18. Revised cylinder ventilation reduces pumping losses, while gear driven counter balancer and back torque limited clutch continue from old bike.
and the list goes on and on.

he also said that it pulls hard from 1st through 5th with no noticeable let up.

Predictions....i think it will run 9.5s in the quarter from what i read or better. He said its not that much different then the 1000s in acceleration in first and second, but doesnt loose steam there after.
That sounds like a pretty tough engine to me, so who needs 1500cc of displacement?

Really sounds like Zuk did a bang up job. Just wait until these beasts start hitting the street. I can't wait to hear some real reviews from some of our org members.
