Riiiight, just nearly a quarter million people, just in the US. Why care about them?
One death is too many, but let’s look at the numbers.

201,000 deaths divided by a population of 328,000,000 x 100 gives us 0.0613%

Where I have difficulty with the numbers is most dying are non-healthy elderly folks with underlying conditions. So when they pass away, was it really COVID, or not. How accurate is the reporting? How much of their life was left?

If we allow our economy to plunge, how many people will suffer in comparison?

I don't think the CDC does a particular good job of reporting numbers and question their accuracy.

The way I look at real Covid impact is the extra mortality added to total, compared to an average. If a lot more people are dying due to Covide I would expect the total number of deaths to increase accordingly.

If I try and get this data from CDC, it is old and out of date.

Below is a link from the UK, for England and Wales, which shows a clear spike due to Covid in April/May, but it appears to be pretty much back to normal after that. Scroll down the article for the graphs.

The CDC graph shows a worse case here compared to the UK, but if one looks at their numbers around January 2018, for that period Flu took almost the same additional lives as Covid did this year.

It is amazing how much we don't know. Especially now that people are monkeying around with the numbers. Hard to use averages even because things are so screwed up. For example accidental deaths have tanked.

The numbers could really be monkeyed around with during the upcoming flu season:rolleyes:

Could not have said better myself.
I take issue with the mandate. I don't want the government making me do stuff "for my safety."
. Do you drive up a one way street the wrong way? How about OSHA rules. Lots of rules the government mandates. We couldn’t live without them. Wear a mask, not a big deal, or live in the woods and not be in contact with anyone till it’s over.

They're way ahead of you....

What's the point of an epidemic if you can't make money off of it?
I'm holding out for the black mask with the white Kanji
