Well, it happened...

Sorry to hear about your dump.  Never a nice thing to happen to any bike--especially a brand new one.  I'm just dying to know--did you have any equipment on when she went over?  My point is you have stated that you control your ride and therefore don't need to wear equipment.  I guess this just goes to show no matter how good you are, or how much you're in control, shid can happen faster than you can react!
Had on a helmet, backpack, jeans, Nike basketball shoes. I was only going like 1mph. It just hit a nasty rut and it dumped while I was moving right. I was actually almost at a stop when it occured at the edge of the driveway/street. I consider this a standstill drop... not a riding accident. And it was on a little bit of a drop/angle and I couldn't lift the bike by myself because I had no traction. My boss helped me get it back up. We had a little laugh (under my breath i was cussing a storm).

He probably actually caused this by parking it in gravel to try to prove his point that you don't need a kickstand mod...

I just feel sorry for the bike, not him.

Too bad when he removes himself from the gene pool he'll probably take the bike with him...

Both panels will run ya about $850 delivered through Ronayers so it's not all that bad.
To try and disguise the embarrassing marks buy some Turtle Wax with the black dye pigment in it. It also comes with a black chip stick that you just smear over the scratch and then use the wax. I've got a black car that I use that wax on and the stuff is amazing, blows away stuff that I paid $40 bucks a bottle. The car is nearly 17 years old and it looks better than the day I bought it off the showroom floor. Never tried the included chip stick though as the car is still a virgin...has never been scratched or nicked.
Just don't get the wax on good clothes as the black dye will stain.

Always sucks when something like that happens. The depth of the scratches will help determine what can be done. Like psycobusa said, you can get a pretty good deal on those pieces from one of the board sponsors (GoldenChild, StreetnTrack, vman1300) and then sell these pieces as painters. Not a bad way to do it.

Colorite makes paint pens that match the factory paint. Opportunity to upgrade the turn signals to clear alternatives.

Don't think too much. But know that when I say F*CK YOU I really do mean it...

Maybe I don't use a jacket/pants... ok. Some here make me out to be the only one on Earth that rides the way I do. Everyday I see men/young men ride in street clothes on all types of bikes. I'm not alone.

But I also don't put down others in the way you've just tried doing to me. But it's cool. I was in the Army. Which means I've been put down and yelled at by men I actually respected. They had the balls and respect enough to say it all to my face. Being an internet tough-guy is easy.

Like I said, I expected remarks like yours.... so it's all groovy!

Thanks for the input.

I'll look into that for the future. Right now I just want to "pen" or polish the marks away as a temp solution until I am ready to spend some real money.

I have parked my bike on a perfect surface, an uneven parking lot surface, driveway, had the tires on grass - kickstand on a cemented sidewalk... no tips.

I think people that have had their busa fall while parked either had someone tump it over on them or they just don't know how to park a bike.

I've always parked a street bike by first (obviously) putting the stand down. Then I get off, use my right foot to push the stand as far forward and to pull it out to the bike's left as far as possible while pulling on the left handlebar grip to get the bike "stuck". It always worked for my katana 600 and it's working fine for the busa...

So... over time does the kickstand just get worn down or something? If not... then I don't see any reason for my bike to tip over on its own. So I won't be scraping off metal to change it.

Sorry about your bike dude. I never did the kickstand mod either. I know it wasn't a kickstand failure. It seems like busa's have a way of getting that first drop outta their system no matter what you do. I dropped mine on my sidewalk with less than a 1000 miles on it. I got touch-up pens exact color from
My busa is blue / silver. It looks like shid on the silver! On the dark blue not to bad. May not be very noticeable on black. I think the sand, rub, paint wax method would render better results though. Touch-up pen is like 17 bucks i think.

"internet tough-guy"?

I'm sorry, I was under the impression we were having a meeting of the minds...

...and in a battle of wits you are definitely bringing a dull kitchen knife to a gunfight.

As for putting you down NOBODY could do half the job you are doing yourself!

I'm done, I'll ignore you from now on.

Ok... so NOW you're willing to talk to me directly? Because in the other post you made you were talking like I wasn't even listening/reading. If you're going to make a reply to me, then make it to me... I can take the bashing. Just have enough respect to tell it directly to me. You haven't really said anything to me worth a fizzuck so far... so I don't think we can call it a meeting of the minds.

+1 on ebay for some clear alternative lens covers. You may want to push slightly on the lens to make sure that you didn't crack the plastic inside where the screws hold the lens... I know it didn't hit hard enough to break the lens, but if you damaged the stuff internally, also, you might want to check the fraing stay to ensure that the short bar where you attach the ram air tube isn't bent...

Scratches don't look all that bad, you could run a paint marker over them and then use wax to fill it in... not a real long term thing, but it'll get ya through.
Very sorry that you dropped her, hate to see it on a new bike. It happens, but hate to see it.

Black color wax should cover most of the scratches up for you, use multiple coats. And there has been lots of talk about frame-sliders lately around here, pros-cons...but I put some on mine as cheap insurance for little incidents like the one you just had.

Anyhow, real bummer that she got a little scuffed up before the first oil change, but a few war wounds just add some personality, now its unique and truly yours - a one of a kind if you will...lol.

Check Ebay for plastics, you will eventually find a good deal. Your bike still looks great, and things could have been worse.

stay safe

Thanks.

Keep rollin, Val.

My ##### will look "new" again.... and yeah, I knew the time was coming soon to drop her down because of my work. I was hoping it would happen later than sooner! That gravel road really IS a pain in the A55!!! But... my baby is already scratched... so I'll keep going into it like before. If it falls again... it falls again. But... I think from now on I can stop that because I know where to and NOT to go on that section of the road.....

I learned. My ego is in check! I fell! I dropped it! I can live with it!

P!

Thanks Val! I guess that's a good way to say it!

My bike has "war wounds" and it's MINE! LOL!

It is! Yeah!

That seriously made me feel better about the whole situation!

Thanks again....

Well ,looks like a lot of people have already given ya some good info for fixing your baby . Sorry to hear it happened bud .
